The Company:
Our Client is a growing Automotive OEM. Due to the demand for current and future models there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

o Lead Clay modeller within the Design Department.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES.

• Responsible for the day to day management of a team of automotive Clay modellers
• To lead the other Clay modellers and set an example professionally.
• Responsible for ensuring that appropriate levels of skilled resource are available or commissioned to insure successful implementation of design workload plan.
• To provide clay modelling and automotive design support, working on full size, scale, exterior and interior models as per Designers verbal specifications.
• To assist, and promote best practise, in the production of models, components and patterns to a professional standard, including spray paint finishing etc
• To assist with and give technical advice and instruction as appropriate, to staff and students in model making and prototyping techniques, machining in various mediums and to carry out and oversee the cutting of material and the use of hand tools
• To assist the Modelling Lead with the issuing of materials, maintenance of material stock levels, security of tools, maintenance of machinery and tools, general house keeping and contribute to the duties of the Studio and Workshops as a whole
• To ensure and actively promote safety and safe working practices within the Studio ensuring compliance Safety Code and to comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Significant experience in Automotive Design within OEM in both concept development and feasibility work.
• Some experience of team management and staff development.
• Good broad knowledge of downstream processes and willing to assist in the solving of design problems.
• The ability to operate in multi cultural environment requiring patience & understanding
• Knowledge of design process.
• Candidate should have a recognised apprenticeship in a related trade i.e. Patternmaking, Bodymaking or Model making
• Proven Automotive Clay modelling experience in both Interior and Exterior Clay modelling
• Must be flexible in approach and able to interpret styling requirements into 3D form
• Excellent communication skills with design team and possibly senior management
• Totally flexible, committed and motivated to deliver in all circumstances especially within a small team environment or internationally located design studio.
• Experience working with engineering data and packaging
