The Role:
Staff Position
North Sea FPSO
2/3 Rota (14/21)

Ensure that the operation and maintenance of the electrical installations and the electrical equipment are kept on a high level, to avoid break down during operation

Check that the above tasks are carried out in accordance with the rules and regulations in force and the Quality Assurance System of clients FPSOs

Carry out necessary repairs and maintenance of the electrical installation and the electrical equipment on board in accordance with clients FPSOs’
Quality Assurance System (in particular the Preventive Maintenance Program) under the management of the Maintenance Supervisor
Operate the electrical installations and equipment on board as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor
Carry out L.V., M.V. and H.V. isolations as authorised by the competency system
Inspect the electrical installations and the electrical equipment on board on a regular basis. Ensure that both the installations and the equipment (i.e. generators, transformers, switchboards, DC and AC motors, galley appliances, lighting, winches, electrical hand-tools, etc.) at all times are in proper condition concerning safety as well as in compliance with the regulations
Ensure that the Emergency Shutdown system is in working order at all times
Supervision of contract Electrical labour
Assist the Maintenance Supervisor regarding electrical questions in respect of modifications and other matters as requested and in the follow up of regulations for the electrical installation on board
Follow-up on requirements and recommendations resulting from inspections by representatives from the Authorities and the Classification Society
Keep the maintenance journal updated and prepare reports regarding the electrical installation in accordance with the MF Management System
In cooperation with the Maintenance Supervisor and the Maintenance Superintendent, modify electrical schematics, isometrics, and electrical wiring diagrams as necessary
Ensure appropriate stock levels are maintained at an optimum level
Assist the Logistic Coordinator with regard to ordering of spares and keeping inventory of electrical components
Input to and monitoring of Health, Safety and Environmental yearly performance targets for Maintenance activities. Monitor against these targets and propose actions to achieve these
Carry out risk assessment exercises and lead maintenance teams in toolbox talks as appropriate.

The Lead Electrical Technician is responsible for ensuring that all electrical systems and related equipment are maintained, serviced and tested in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations, the electrical standards and good industry practice.
The Lead Electrical Technician is responsible for ensuring that deviations from the explosion proof integrity of installations and equipment within hazardous zones are identified and reported to the Maintenance Supervisor and the OIM.
The Lead Electrical Technician further has the responsibility for the following:
Maintain a good working environment in all working areas and ensure good housekeeping and safe working conditions
Attend to and maintain the FPSO’ EDP equipment, and ensure correct use of it
Be aware of and comply with class rules and regulations related to the electrical installations
When controlling the work of others, the Lead Electrical Technician is responsible for the safety of the personnel working under his management
Be well acquainted with the legislation in respect of the working environment and safety, and clients FPSOs’ safety and environmental policy; and ensure that this is applied in the daily work on board. Particu¬lar attention to be paid to the Work Permit System and implemen¬tation of electrical safety.

Is responsible for the documentation & recording of jobs within duties and job areas
Handover reports.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Electrician certificate, preferably “Authorised Electrician” or similar including minimum 12 months of relevant experience

Theoretical education and exam as “Electrical Automation Technician“ and 3 years of systematic relevant training for service as Electrician on ship and mobile unit

Ships Electrician Certificate. For units with High Voltage, HV competence for electricians is required. For such units the electrician shall be evaluated for qualification in cooperation with Clients Electro responsible person

Candidates without official qualifications must pass an internal test
Experienced in variable speed control of AC/DC motors
Experienced in faultfinding, measuring and testing of electromechanical equipment
Experienced in faultfinding and testing of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Experienced in Calibration of analogue and digital transmitters
Conversant with documentation in the following areas:
Loop diagram
Ladder diagram
