The Company:
Our client is a leader in the Energy industry. They are an electricity and gas company that connects consumers to energy sources through its networks. As a result of a successful project award they are currently looking to recruit a Lead Engineer (Engineering Manager) for a major FEED study on a flagship CCS project in the UK. Our client is responsible for the engineering, consenting, risk evaluation and full-life cost estimation for the development of the carbon dioxide transport and storage

The Role:
The Lead Engineer (Engineering Manager) will lead a multi-discipline client’s engineering team reporting to the Project Director

The responsibilities of the Lead Engineer (Engineering Manager) will include:

- Manage and contribute to the development of suite of basis of design documentation based upon hand-over from research and development / pre-FEED phase of project;
- Manage and contribute to the development of technical content of ITT documentation and evaluate tenders in support of FEED sub-contractors procurement exercise;
- Manage client’s engineering team and provide input to project and contractual reports.
- Manage Lead Engineers / FEED Sub-contract managers in the on-going management of the FEED subcontractors through FEED sub- contract execution;
- Provide technical support in the Lead Engineer (Engineering Manager’s) own discipline to other technical team members managing FEED sub-contracts;
- Produce and contribute to technical and project documentation and deliverables; and
- Interface with Government bodies, regulators, client and technical teams from other consortium companies.

It is expected that the Lead Engineer (Engineering Manager) will be responsible for the approval of subcontractors technical output and deliverables.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Due to the multi-discipline nature of the project and hence the Lead Engineer (Engineering Manager) role it is expected that the successful candidate will have experience in a number of the following areas, most likely from within an Oil & Gas or petrochemical context;

• High Pressure Pipelines, onshore and offshore
• Onshore and offshore high pressure facilities design including high pressure fluid handling machinery and plant;
• Pipeline Beach Crossing and near shore works;
• Jacket & integrated deck design and installation.

In addition it is highly desirable that the Lead Engineer (Engineering Manager) should have a working knowledge / some experience in:

• Drilling;
• Wells and completion design;
• Reservoir evaluation.

The Lead Engineer (Engineering Manager) will be educated to a minimum of honours degree level in a relevant engineering discipline (likely Mechanical or Chemical Engineering).

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Candidates with Chartered status are preferred
• Previous experience of dense phase fluid (preferably carbon dioxide) handling and processing and/or carbon capture and storage systems is desirable but not an essential requirement
• Experience of construction projects and operations would also be attractive.
