The Company:
Our client is a global market leader within the energy sector with projects in over 30 countries worldwide. Here in Australia, they are involved in one of the largest LNG projects with operations spanning exploration, production and downstream. The Role:
We are looking for an experienced Lead Environmental Specialist to join a global Oil & Gas major, to work on one of Australia's largest LNG development projects to date. Under the direction of the onshore HSE manager and the general manager of construction, this position will have the responsibility to provide assurances ensuring that all onshore scopes of work are planned and constructed in accordance with all environmental requirements, commitments, agreed conditions and obligations imposed through permits and approvals. The position is also responsible for the management of the companies onshore environmental staff.

Main Responsibilities Include but will not be limited to:
* Lead the onshore environmental compliance program, including compliance with the environmental approvals, management plans and procedures, implement cost saving initiatives and practical solutions to complex issues.
* Provide oversight of and guidance to Contractor for the overall onshore environmental compliance program, including compliance with the Contractor's environmental management plans and procedures.
* Support the General Manager Construction, Deputy Project Manager - Construction, Onshore HSE Manager and Onshore Engineering Manager as required.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with Regulators and all internal and external stakeholders.
* Provide advice, technical assistance, assurance and environmental support to the Company onshore construction and engineering teams.
* Plan and lead environmental compliance audits as part of Company's integrated audit and assurance schedule.
* Compile environmental reports and statistical data as required.
* Implement environmental engineering specifications, processes and programmes applicable to the onshore facilities, including risk assessments, impact mitigation strategies and measures, management plans, emissions monitoring, environmental monitoring.
* Liaise with other engineering, construction and commissioning disciplines to ensure alignment and consistency between environment, quality, health & safety, integrity, reliability, security, onshore / offshore.
* Support the onshore Emergency Management Team as required.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Bachelor degree in Environment or equivalent experience (essential).
* Higher level degree (desirable).
* Minimum 10 years' environmental management experience
* Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills including negotiation, conflict resolution and liaison, to develop cooperative working relationships with internal and external clients
* Leadership and management skills with a focus on managing workplace health and safety
* Proven high level research, analytical and problem solving skills
* Sound understanding of the Australian environmental regulatory framework and the development of environmental management plans
* Acting in a lead role within large scale Greenfield projects
* Sound understanding of LNG / LPG processing.
* Sound understanding of tropical environments.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
* High level verbal and written communication skills.
* Strong interpersonal skills, ability to build relationships, including the ability to network effectively with diverse stakeholders.
* Highly organised, self-motivated results orientated professional
* Strong skills and ability in field supervision of EPC contractors
* Strong capability in mentoring and engagement of construction personnel
* Strong interpersonal and influential skills
