The Role:
As a Lead Environmental Engineer / Advisor you will oversee:
• Manage the environmental program at site (Industrial Site, FSR, Bish Cove, Offsite Marshalling and monitoring areas) to demonstrate compliance and achieve environmental protection objectives.
• Oversee 3 environmental personnel on site for planning and execution of all site scopes (compliance and operations).
• Manage staffing, roles and responsibilities, resource loading and day to day activities.
• Monitor and maintain budget.
• Maintain a strong field presence (minimum 3 visits per week) to remain current on field activities and assist env reps with effective management of field scopes.
• Guide env management for third-party work (e.g., Skeena, TRA, Shell, PNG, BC Hydro, Haisla, PTP interface).
• Lead env transition activities from JFJV to team, ensuring field environmental compliance program continues.
• Support decommissioning and remediation of the Industrial Site, including facilitating field studies (e.g., groundwater) and interim clearances to work. Champion Kitimat Env Compliance Program.
• Responsible for ensuring implementation of Construction Environmental Protection Plan (EPP), and Environmental Management Plans (Operational Safeguards) for all field scopes.
• Oversee completion of compliance verification tasks (checklists, self-audits).
• Oversee Env training requirements for site team and contractors (e.g., Bear Aware).
Essential Skills / Qualifications:
As a Lead Environmental Engineer / Advisor you will have experience:
• BC Environmental regulations
• Be willing to be based locally in Kitimat
• B.Sc. degree required in Environmental Science or Engineering
• 10 years environmental experience (including fieldwork and MCP)
