The Company:
Specialists in design, manufacture, assembly, test, installation & commissioning of bespoke solutions for the nuclear industry. Supplied an extensive range of equipment and solutions to most UK nuclear power stations, including fuel route, remote handling and inspection equipment, encapsulation and waste handling solutions, gloveboxes and shielded containments and reprocessing equipment.

The Role:
We are looking for an experienced Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to work alongside a developing team working on nuclear design projects.

Role involves:
• 3D (Pro Engineer) Design on nuclear projects, e.g. mechanical/remote handling equipment
• Ensuring that all work on a specific project being produced complies with the client design specification and relevant standards
• Ensure completeness of design packages presented to the Design Manager/Lead Engineer for comment, review, approval etc.
• Attend site surveys
• Interface with client on project related matters including Requests for Information, Technical Queries etc.
• Interface with other disciplines to ensure compliance with their requirements, equipment and service locations

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
3D design skills.
• Experienced Pro Engineer user
• Experience in mechanical design
• Experience producing detail designs
• Some experience producing mechanical calculations
• Some experience producing mechanical documentation to support designs i.e. outline installation method statement, DJR, DAR, Design Risk Assessment, Technical Files
• Good communication skills
• HNC Mechanical Engineering (or related engineering discipline)

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Some experience in research developing new equipment / machinery
• Some experience in coordinating design procedures
• Experience in FEA and the use of ‘ANSYS’ software
• Experience of design for nuclear sites/facilities
• Experience of working on projects for Sellafield site and conversant with design processes, procedures and standards
• Degree Qualified
• IEng or CEng accredited, or working towards either
