The Company:
Our client is a nuclear specialist, covering both civilian and defence sectors, across the complete lifecycle from New Build, through Operations and Maintenance, to final decommissioning and waste disposal.

They are currently looking to recruit Lead Mechanical Engineers to be based at Whitehaven, Cumbria

The Role:
The Lead Mechanical Design Engineer (Nuclear)is principally a design delivery role from a technical perspective working as part of a multi-disciplined design team, or alone.

The responsibilities of the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer (Nuclear) will involve the checking and approving design calculations of designers and other engineers within the team,

Management of installation, commissioning and operating documents, will be carried out by the Lead Mechanical Engineer

The allocation of work to other members of team in order to ensure delivery of design to quality, time and budget and Development of designs to satisfy technical specifications, are also important elements of the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer (Nuclear) role

The Lead Mechanical Engineer is the probable lead of design reviews, safety reviews (risk assessments/ HAZOP's) from technical standpoint within the discipline.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
The Lead Mechanical Engineer will ideally have extensive experience gained in a design delivery position within a project delivery based environment

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Experience within the nuclear industry is a distinct advantage in the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer role
