The Company:
Our client, an international major oil and gas operator, seeks a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join their team.

The Role:
Supervises engineers and reviews mechanical design of projects for technical accuracy, compliance, completeness and feasibility to governing codes and COMPANY requirements.

• This position is responsible for mechanical engineering of static and packaged equipment.
• The majority of the mechanical static and packaged equipment for the project will be located in the Central Processing Facility and will include equipment critical to crude production and steam generation such as crude separation, treaters and desalters; produced water deoiling and treatment packages (including ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis membranes which are undergoing technology qualification for this application); steam boilers; and crude product storage tanks.
• The Lead Mechanical Engineer will play a critical role in defining the mechanical static and packaged equipment required for the project and then working with contractors, suppliers and other stakeholders to develop all necessary engineering deliverables needed as the project progresses through front end and detailed engineering to construction.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
BS required, MS Optional
• 15+ years of experience in mechanical engineering discipline.
• Extensive knowledge of process plant mechanical static and packaged equipment including steam boilers, pressure vessels, shell and tube exchangers, air coolers, atmospheric storage tanks, water treatment packages, and other typical oil field utility packages.
• Strong preference for experience with large capacity steam boilers and heat recovery steam generators. Preference for heavy oil and steam flood experience.
• 10+ years major capital project experience in either upstream or downstream oil and gas industry with track record of effectiveness in working with large engineering firms.
• Strong preference for experience in both front end and detailed engineering design phases.
• Preference for experience in engineering design and fabrication / field construction experience.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Experience working for both Operator and Engineering Contractors.
• Experience with developing and applying project specific technical specifications.
• HAZID / HAZOP experience.
• Experience in review of equipment packages for compliance with Safety-in-Design (SID) standards and other human factors engineering elements, including accessibility, maintainability, mechanical handling, etc.
• Ability to work in and to ensure that Incident & Injury Free (IIF) culture is reflected in facility design and all phases of project execution.
• Experience working within a multinational team or with supervising / mentoring foreign nationals.
• Ability to interact and communicate effectively with engineering contractors, other discipline team members and project management as necessary.
