The Role:
Lead Mechanical Engineer (advisor) required for major Oil & Gas Operator

Location: Kazakhstan
Rotation: 28/28
Duration: 12 months+
Day Rate: Negotiable
Accommodation/Flights/Per diem- included
Fundamental Requirements: Degree in Mechanical Engineering/must be under 60 yrs old

Scope of work:
Maintain and update companies Specifications & Standards in Mechanical / Piping discipline, as needed. Approves or rejects specification variance requests.
Review out-sourced engineering company drawings and specifications to ensure conformity company Standards and Specifications and contract terms.
Ensure that all design packages comply with company Specifications & ASME, API and other applicable national and international standards.
Ensure that materials used in the fabrication and construction complies with company Specifications and requirements.
Provide leadership and work direction to Engineers within the Piping Mechanical discipline;
Provide leadership and work direction to the Lead Mentoring Designers within the Piping / Mechanical discipline;
Responsible for leading the development and deployment of engineering work processes, the guidelines, the policies and standards that will ensure the quality of the work product, its efficiency of design and the cost awareness during design and project execution.
Convert process design to mechanical design.
Provide input to Project Engineers during early project development phases.
Provide input to and participate in Project Planning, Scheduling and Estimates.
Specify and Purchase major mechanical equipment such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, boilers, pumps, compressors, tanks etc.
Specify and purchase valves, piping, pipe fitting, insulation and other bulk items.

Recognized as a technical expert within discipline and for cross-functional business by peers.
Utilises cross-functional. knowledge from several fields including other disciplines (i.e., operations, Health Environment and Safety (HES), business development, etc.), and utilizes this knowledge in solving more complex business issues.
Often applies knowledge learned through industry network to solve problems within organization.
Counsels engineering staffs of affiliated companies and serves as a discipline expert.
In carrying out these tasks, the Lead Engineer must show experience, leadership and maturity in managing design functions with design / drawing office and other discipline engineering specialists and a familiarity with engineering design office work processes. In addition, must able to lead development of new improved work processes.
The Lead Engineer must be able to demonstrate strong communication and inter-personal skills, as they will be required to effectively implement safety programs, training programs, resource allocations, and work schedules. In addition he will manage performance, define key job responsibilities, and provide a conduit for communication and resolution of technical project integrity.
Knowledge of applicable International industry standards is critical and additionally experience of GOST, SNIP standards and Republic of Kazakhstan regulatory requirements would be required.
The Lead Engineer will develop his or her National workforce through effective on/off the job training, contribute to the job assessment process, mentoring, and implementation of formal career development plans.
Participate in technical evaluation of bids received and the selection of suitable contractor for executing projects, relates design requirements to alternative specifications and standards considering project cost, operations efficiency, maintenance costs and energy conservation.
The Lead Engineer shall demonstrate and promote all the intents of the companies Way in all project work.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering - neccessary for Visa application
Candidates must be under 60 yrs old - neccessary for Visa application
15 Years + experience as Mechanical Engineer
10 Years+ Oil & Gas experience

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Previous Oil & Gas Operator experience
