The Role:
• Ensuring that Shipyard QHSE standards are maintained, monitored and make suggestions for improvement in accordance with clients expectations.

• Responsible for all mechanical/marine/pipework aspects of both the design and construction/installation stages of the SCV build.
• Manage the day to day activities of the Mechanical and Pipework systems supervisors.
• Report on all aspects of design and equipment installation progress or issues to the Construction Manager.
• Review and verify design, engineering drawings and documents.
• Work in close co-operation with the Shipyard mechanical/pipework designers and engineers.
• Monitor the performance of subcontractors and initiate actions if delivery deviates from specifications and schedule.
• Review work packages, commissioning procedures, FAT procedures, SAT procedures and mechanical completion documents.
• Attend FAT’s as may be required for major mechanical components/systems.
• Responsible for commissioning, FMEA’s and sea trials for your individual areas, the Construction Lead will conduct commissioning up to Mechanical Completions.
• Perform on-site inspections of the shipyard work and follow up on quality and progress to ensure that it meets the required specifications and is on schedule.
• Monitoring, logging and analysis of the incoming engineering data from the Shipyard.
• Providing on‐site assistance for the interface between basic and detailed engineering data and the yards’ fabrication engineering.
• Providing a basis of first contact for the Yard’s engineering members during the preparation of the fabrication engineering.
• Monitoring, logging, reporting and following up on engineering queries and/or changes from Shipyard.

• Monitoring the engineering documents in the document control and tracking system.
• Monitoring the engineering interface between the Yard and vendors and suppliers.
• Verifying variations and/or variation orders on technical content.
• Providing engineering related project information for the project progress reports and weekly project meeting.
• Monitoring the Yard’s procurement effort in accordance with the procurement schedule.
• Including procurement related information and deviations from the procurement schedule into the project progress reports and weekly project meeting.
• Inspecting, monitoring and reporting on Yard’s bulk material selection, procurement, quality, storage and handling.
• Verifying procurement related variation orders on technical content.
• Monitoring and assisting in the engineering information interface between vendors and suppliers and the Yard’s engineering department.
• Work closely with Class surveyors to ensure full compliance with Class rules, Flag state and relevant guidelines.
• Work closely with the chosen marine/installation vessel operators and integrate the marine crew into the mechanical completion/commissioning processes.
• The above responsibilities apply to both the Singapore Shipyard and the Baku Shipyard (BSY) stages of the vessel build.
• Provide technical support to the vessel operator for 24 months post completion and hand-over.
• Ensure that all appropriate technical documentation is verified and maintained in readiness for vessel project operations.
• Over-see all electrical/electronic MC’s and commissioning tests, review and comment on any findings and make recommendations were appropriate.
• Over-see the sea trials plan (Mechanical) and make recommendations for any additional testing above the requirements of the ship yard, Flag state or class as may be required for additional marine assurance verification.
• Provide input and support an integrated FMEA for the SCV as part of the project sea-trials SoW.
• Make recommendations on any findings from FAT’s/SiT’s/FMEA’s or sea-trials

Skill Requirements:

• Exhibits understanding of clients s Major Projects common process (MPcp) and the latest statutory and classification regulatory standards to assure integrity of build and construction quality.

• Ability to intervene in critical situations in order to redirect focus and achieve the required result.

• A high level of proven communication, interpersonal and people management skills.

• Self-motivated.

• Computer literate.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Minimum: OND in Engineering or Engineering certificate by a recognized institution. Desired: HND/HNC in Engineering or Engineering Degree or professional status accreditation with a recognized institution.

• A minimum of 10years experience in Mechanical/Marine Engineering role. Preferably with previous ship-building/ rig construction work in shipyards.

• Experience with site construction activities related to health, safety, and environmental issues.

• Engineering degree or Class 1 Certificate of Competence or equivalent.

• Familiar/aware of Class Rules for new builds (DNV), rules and regulations relating to IMO (SOLAS,
MARPOL, FTP Code, FSS Code, ISPS, LSA, etc).

• Seagoing experience in the rank of at least a Second Engineer and be familiar with operating, maintaining, problem solving of dynamic positioning systems.

• Marine technical experience in shipping or ship construction/repair yards.

• Previous construction supervision experience as Machinery Inspector
