The Role:
The Lead Planner will take the lead for all planning activities associated with the projects scope. In addition they will be responsible for the co-ordination of day to day planning activities for the planning team, with particular emphasis on ensuring a consistent approach to progress measurement, reporting, work breakdown structure & critical path analysis. A key element of the role is to lead small teams in development of schedules, interfacing across disciplines (engineering, procurement and construction), and presenting to the client Project Management Teams, so excellent communication and presentation skills are essential. The Lead Planner will be responsible for project reporting and ensuring quality and consistency across reports. The Lead Planner will demonstrate skill in identifying, analyzing, and providing workable solutions to planning and scheduling problems.


• Review and comment on contractors planning and progress procedures as proposed by contractors for the FPU and TLP Packages. Review internally & negotiate with contractors in order to finalize procedures that meet the requirements of the Contracts.
• Review and comment on Contractors Planning and Progress Reports to access conformity with the contracts requirements, credibility, areas of concern and propose action to mitigate slippages and claims by Contractors.
• Liaise with Construction Team to ensure all factors are taken into consideration in the assessment of planning and scheduling.
• Prepare input for the weekly and monthly progress reports (including progress “S” curves, histograms) and areas of concern and remedial actions.
• Preparation, management and update of the overall integrated schedule (Master Control Schedule - MCS)
• Preparation, management and update of the overall high level schedules which are underpinned by the MCS
• Manage, analyse and monitor all Contractor schedules (using Primavera P6, MS Project) and ensure that they are prepared, recorded and controlled against contracts requirements. Ensure that project milestone dates are within the approved contract schedules.
• Provide support to verify claimed monthly progress against invoices and variations and change orders and associated claims for extension of time.
• Interface with the procurement function within the project team and contractors, to ensure that materials and equipment deliveries are properly reflected in the detailed schedules.
• Interfaces with the Cost Control function and contractors, to ensure that project cost phasing is kept up to date in line with current forecasts.
• Interfaces with designated project and client counterparts for specific planning and scheduling tasks
• Identifies critical activities, floats, slipped activities to ensure they are reflected correctly by contractors in the reports and investigates reasons for slippage.
• Coordinates with Functional/contractor planning engineer(s) with regard to the interface dates.
• Conduct regular hands on site visits as required to verify schedule and progress reporting.
• Supports lead Engineers and proposes alternative courses of action, wherever possible, to facilitate efficient project progress. Participates in regular meetings to keep abreast with all issues relating to the project. Discusses and reviews opportunities for optimization of the schedule
• Ability to perform Schedule Risk Analysis (SRA) in preparation of Cost & Schedule Review(s)
• Develop project close out schedule and coordinate or provide input to close out, lessons captured and close out data book.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• BSc. Degree or HND in a relevant discipline with at least 5-10 years of experience in the Offshore Oil & Gas Industry
• Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing planning and scheduling functions, which include schedule development, control, and analysis, in the field and the home office.
• Extensive planning experience in Oil, Gas and Chemicals or related industry.
• Skilled in oral and written communication (English language) and presentations of schedule materials.
• Advanced level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes for FEED and EPC projects.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, direct, perform, review, and present schedule products independently with minimal supervision.
• Advanced user of Primavera P6, Primavera Risk Analysis & Microsoft Office applications.
