The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
As a Lead Engineer in the Suspension Systems Architecture (SSA) function you will work within one of the following teams :-

Frames: front sub-frames, rear sub-frames.
Knuckles including hubs, bearings and Corner Assemblies
Suspension control arms including cross axis joints and ball joints
Compliant Mounting Systems (CMS) : engine mounting bushes, sub-frame bushes, suspension bushes

Each team has design and development responsibility for their components across all client products from concept through detail design and into production.

Engineers take full ownership for delivering robust engineering to achieve all targets for their components (dynamics, durability, weight, cost, delivery timing, etc.).

Close interaction is required across all client functions and suppliers in order to achieve this.

A person with minimal experience would be considered, but you must be able to demonstrate strong aptitude and interest in design engineering and chassis systems.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Sound understanding of engineering principles.
Excellent communication skills at all levels required.
Positive team member with a 'Can-do' attitude and a high level of enthusiasm and commitment.
Keen to take the lead, monitor and drive tasks through to completion.
Attention to detail to collate accurate information and follow process.
MS Office literate.
Willingness to learn and help the team develop more efficient processes/methods.
Minimal experience in the field would be considered providing you are able to demonstrate a strong aptitude and interest in detail engineering design and chassis systems.
Ability to monitor and deliver multiple tasks to agreed standards and timescales (e.g. University projects, design projects in industry)
Degree in a technical discipline (preferably mechanical engineering or equivalent).

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Enthusiasm for automotive engineering and delivering premium vehicles.
An understanding of basic chassis system performance requirements e.g. Durability & Reliability, K&C, NVH etc.
Knowledge of DFMEA, DMAIC problem solving, derivation of timing plans.
Working within a design & engineering delivery environment
Suspension/Chassis systems knowledge/interest.
Some experience of working within design engineering delivery environment (an OEM is a benefit) - Some knowledge of client processes and metrics (WERS, PACN, etc.) is beneficial but not essential.
Supplier management.
