The Company:
Our client, a major international owner/operating company, requires expertise for their LNG mega-project in Western Canada.

This position is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only.

This role will be based in Calgary for approx. 18 months and then transition to Site location near Kitimat, BC on a rotational working schedule..

The Role:
The Lead Project Engineer, Power Plant:

• Supervises the completion of all technical scopes of work, specifications, drawings and data sheets necessary for the EPC bid packages.
• Supervises the completion of the commercial elements of the EPC bid packages being prepared by the Business Management Team including: Commercial T & C, bid forms, commercial input to the EPC Bid Evaluation Plan, etc.
• Supervises the project execution planning. Seek out and apply best practices from other projects. Capture and share best practices and lessons learned from project planning and execution. Apply Company Project Development & Execution Process and Capital Stewardship principles to ensure decision quality and superior project execution.
• Overseas VIP workshops, including Value Engineering, Process Simplification, Process Optimization and Design to Capacity.
• Leads a variety of conceptual engineering project management activities relating to the development of the resources, such as cost control, scheduling, project assurance activities and interfacing within Company.
• Leads the Company management of the selected Conceptual Engineering contractor ensuring deliverables are produced on schedule and to the content and quality expected.
• Leads technical activities of the selected conceptual engineering contractor in multiple disciplines.
• Integrates inherent safety in design and operability in concept selection and development for gas resource opportunities.

Required Project Experience:

• Major capital project international construction experience, including fabrication and installation of Power Plant facilities in international offshore locations, heavy lifts, cost estimating and scheduling.
• Power Plant design, operation and construction experience required.
• Boiler design, construction, operation, and commissioning experience required.
• Heat Recovery Steam Generation (HRSG) design, processes, construction, operation, and commissioning experience required.
• Experience working on a team at Construction Sites with logistics from international locations required.
• Working knowledge with completions processes.
• Experience working with a design contractors office during FEED / detailed design.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• College / University Engineering degree and/or technical diploma
• Twenty plus (20+) years of Projects and Construction with working knowledge of Power Plant Operations experience with direct “hands on” experience in international work being required.
• 10+ Years of Power Plant Commissioning and Operations Experience
• 5+ Years of Power Plant Design Experience

Critical Technical Skills

In-depth knowledge of:
• Project Completion standards, Company specifications, codes, and appropriate safety criteria
• Facilities engineering, Power Plant construction, commissioning and systems completions.
• Company practices, processes, and expectations with respect to Systems Completion and Commissioning
• Previous successful construction engineering role during Project Management and Construction execution.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Strong communication and teamwork skills.

• Must work effectively as a project representative within a multi-discipline work team located in a remote design contractor's office.
• Good interface skills between contractor(s), project team, and Company specialists.
