The Company:
Our client is a nuclear specialist, covering both civilian and defence sectors, across the complete lifecycle from New Build, through Operations and Maintenance, to final decommissioning and waste disposal.

The Role:
My client has been involved in the design, supply testing and licensing of RAMt flask/containers for over 25 years. They have worked for a variety of customers both nationally and internationally. It has been recognized that there is a continuing requirement to revalidate existing RAMt flasks/containers as well as having to design “new” flasks/containers.

As a Lead RAM Transport Engineer your main duties will involve:
My client is looking to expand their RAMt engineering team that is based in their South East Office, by addition of both lead and senior engineers. The successful candidate would be responsible for preparing detailed engineering assessments of existing flasks/containers, concept, scheme and detailed designs for “new” flasks/containers. They would be required to give technical support/advice during the flasks/container manufacturing process. They would be expected to specify and witness the full scale prototype testing of any “new” flasks/containers.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
As a Lead RAM Transport Engineer you will have experience:
• Radioactive Material Transportation Experience is a MUST
• Demonstrable competence gained in a design delivery position
• Experience in nuclear is preferred but not essential. It is a requirement of the position to demonstrate experience gained in a similar position ideally from a highly regulated industry. This could be from but is not limited to Defence, Pharmaceutical, Oil & Gas, Automotive, Water or Food
• Technical experience could be gained from but is not limited to precision engineering, conveyer systems, remote handling systems / equipment, heavy engineering, cranes, pipes and pumps
• Fundamental understanding of mechanical engineering principles is required e.g. Forces, stresses, materials selection
