The Company:
Our Client is an International Company involved in the supply of Energy globally. Their Operations cover Exploration, Production and Downstream and at present they have projects in over 25 Countries worldwide.
In Australia they are involved in one of the largest LNG Projects, including both Gas and Condensate which is currently in FEED (Front End Engineering Design) Stage.

The Role:
Our client is currently recruiting for a Lead Safety Engineer. The primary function of this position is to co-ordinate the Onshore Division safety engineering team activities during the detailed design, procurement, fabrication, site construction, commissioning and start-up of the LNG Plant.

Key responsibilities of this position include but at are not limited to:
Responsible for meeting quality and schedule requirements for all safety engineering deliverables produced by the onshore safety engineering team and the EPC contractor.
Planning and delivery of the Onshore Safety Case and supporting studies.
Provide safety engineering input and expertise to the onshore division engineering team. Ensure consistent implementation of agreed safety philosophies and specifications across all packages to assure safety in design objectives are achieved for the facility as a whole.
Review engineering designs produced by EPC contractors to ensure compliance with Company requirements. Recommend changes, as necessary, to ensure that onshore safety risks are reduced risks to as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP) levels.
Participate in EPC led engineering reviews such as HAZID, HAZOP, SIL etc and ensure compliance with company quality expectations.
Monitor EPC contractors and vendor activities to ensure that plant, equipment and systems supplied for the onshore facilities meet the required safety performance standards.
Management of 3rd party safety studies completed under direct contract with the client including: preparation of suitable work scopes, selection of suitable contractors/consultants; management of interfaces and ensuring deliverables meet quality and schedule expectations. Responsible for ensuring third party findings are appropriately addressed by the engineering teams.
Provide input to 3rd party validation scope and written scheme of validation for equipment within their work scope.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Tertiary qualifications and / or professional registration in a relevant engineering discipline eg chemical engineering, petroleum engineering, mechanical engineering.
Minimum 15 years experience in provision of safety engineering expertise to the oil and gas industry.
EPC phase experience on a major oil & gas or petrochemical project.
Familiarity with the requirements of a goal setting regulatory regime and the development of Safety Case documentation for regulatory approval.
LNG plant design experience is considered an advantage.
