The Company:
Our major oil & gas client is seeking a Lead Static Mechanical Engineer to work predominately in Houston with some business trips to Trinidad.

The Role:
The Lead Static Mechanical Engineer would be part of the Engineering Team, which is responsible for reviewing technical work done by the contractor(s) and providing technical guidance and assurance for Major Projects.

•Provide mechanical engineering technical guidance and assurance for Major Projects. Review and advise on mechanical engineering deliverables from the Engineering Contractor.
•Work with the Contractor during specification, tender, selection, purchase, installation & commissioning of static and rotating equipment to provide the client's technical integrity assurance.
•Interface with the existing Operations team to capture lessons learnt and ensure operability, maintainability and reliability of mechanical equipment.
•Provide support during construction to ensure site technical queries, non-conformances, concession requests are properly resolved.
•Evaluate requests for deviations or exemptions to the established specifications and standards.
•Provide leadership in addressing mechanical design issues with considerations of cost, schedule, and quality.
•Determine risks to delivery and ensure adequate risk mitigation plans are in place.
•Ensure engineering quality in the discipline and advise on any training requirements.
•Provide technical input to risk assessments, Management of Change reviews, and project reviews.
•Maintain a working knowledge of all relevant codes, standards, and regulations that pertain to piping and mechanical equipment.
•Provide mentoring and coaching assistance to develop junior engineers

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or the equivalent UK degree.
•Advanced relevant work experience, preferable in the oil and gas industry.
•An expert with extensive experience in a front line mechanical engineering role in projects and/or operations in oil & gas petrochemical facilities.
•Chartered or Professional Engineer.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
•General Static Equipment - Generalist- Design, Operation & Maintenance of Static Equipment, skillful knowledge of tank’s design codes, pressure vessels, heat exchanges, and package equipment
•General knowledge on piping design codes ANSI and experience on engineering design and design supervision of Oil & Gas plants, export terminals
