The Company:
Our client is a young SURF and heavy subsea construction contractor in the deepwater market, specialising in turnkey engineering, pipelay, construction, project management and execution, including floater installation. They aim to challenge conventional thinking to deliver enhanced efficiency and create sustainable value in the international subsea construction industry.

The Role:
The Lead Structural Engineer will be responsible the successful execution of Subsea Umbilicals Risers & Flowlines (SURF) structural related project scopes and in-house studies, either completing the work independently or through the coordination and management of a team of in-house engineers, third party engineering resources and client interfaces as required.


• The Lead Structural Engineer is responsible for the accuracy of the calculations and the use of the relevant codes of practice and standards/ guidelines
• Prepare scope of work deliverables, CTRs for work packages, manage and co-ordinate delivery on engineering work scope
• Co-ordination of project draughting requirements
• Co-ordination of a combined workload between both internal and external engineers from third party consultancies and subcontractors
• Interface with Client to develop work scope, schedule and budget costs for engineering activities
• Be familiar with installation vessels and relevant equipment with respect to capabilities and operation
• Oversee and mentor Junior Engineers on technical matters, software programs and technical guidance in general
• Compliance with Business Management System policies and procedures

• Working environment: Majority of the work is carried out in the local office, however some work onboard ships/bases will be available from time to time if desired
• Performing design and analysis of permanent offshore structures such as SSIVs, caissons, manifolds, riser supports/clamps as well as temporary structures including parking stands, sea fastenings and lift rigging. Experience with vessel modifications such as underdeck stiffening is useful but not essential.
• Knowledge and understanding of current industry codes (e.g. AISC, API, ISO and DNV)
• Liaise with, and checking of work and data from in-house engineers, subcontractors and third parties.
• Perform technical audits and design reviews.

Position Safety Criticality
This position has some responsibility relative to HSE success or failure and has some responsibility for safety performance.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Experience and Education:

• University degree level in relevant engineering discipline
• Significant years of relevant working experience after graduation
• Experience in managing a team of engineers
• Acquainted with Legislation and Standards as relevant for the area of responsibility

Technical Requirements:

• Expertise with one or more structural analysis and FEA packages such as SACS, SESAM, Strand7, FS2000 or ANSYS
• Competent with general engineering office software MathCAD, MS Word, MS Excel and MSVisio
