The Company:
Our Client is a major oil and gas operator who has operations though out the world. This role will be working within a project team in an EPC office in London working on major projects in the North Sea.

The Role:
The Lead Technical Safety Engineer will provide discipline technical support to the delivery and technical integrity of the new facilities and associated modifications to the existing facilities. The post holder will form a key member of the Project Engineering team, working in close cooperation with the EPMS contractor with responsibility for design and project execution. The role will be full time and is envisaged through to final commissioning.

We are looking for experienced, chartered Technical Safety experts who want to continue their career with a world leader. North Sea experience is a massive plus for this role. Typical core technical safety activities are:

- Provide input to PHSSERs/EDRs/Project Assurance reviews
- Provide input to and participate in project safety reviews such as HAZIDs/HAZOPs/LOPAs/Layout Reviews/Constructability Reviews
- Ensure proper technical safety planning and support are provided throughout all the project stages

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Education to degree level in engineering a science of engineering (or closely related) discipline.

- CEng status

- Extensive experience in leading HAZOPs, HAZIDs, Layout Reviews.

- Experience of managing contractors and consultants and liaison with third parties (other operators,HSE).

- Knowledge of the verification process and the safety case regime.

- Knowledge of industry standards for technical safety (eg. ISO13702 - Control and Mitigation of Fires and Explosions on Offshore Production Installations, BS61882 - Standard for HAZOPs, relevant US National Fire Protection Association standards, API recommended practices).

- Adequate exposure to key project stages (concept screening, concept selection, front end engineering design, detailed design and construction).

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
- Experience of having worked in an operator, contractor and consultant environment.

- Familiarity with consequence assessment tools (FRED, Cirrus), explosion analysis.

- Knowledge of reliability and availability analysis.

- Familiarity of the 24, 44 and 48 series of ETPs
