Our Client is an international leader in both marginal field developments, in life-of-field engineering and in production support.

The Role:
Basic Purpose of Job:
• Ensure Technical Safety discipline activities are executed within budget and schedule, whilst maintaining technical integrity and act as discipline focal point. Coordinate and ensure correct execution of technical safety discipline activities (Concept, Front End Engineering, Technical study and detail design)

Supervisory and Managerial Duties:
o Assist the Head of Engineering and others when requested in the execution of their responsibilities and duties
o Review and set discipline resource levels to ensure the ideal number of personnel to meet workload and schedule with maximum efficiency, in consultation with Engineering Manager.
o Ensure that discipline personnel meet the required competency criteria including carrying out appraisals and identifying training.
o Review and approve work output of discipline assigned personnel as required
o Coordinate the training and mentoring of graduates as required
o Planning, preparing and chairing (where applicable, see competencies below) HAZIDs, HAZOPs and IPF/SIL assessments as required.


Main Duties:
o Ensure that the required technical quality of work is maintained.
o Provide technical assistance to discipline assigned personnel as required
o Ensure scope and schedule changes are controlled in accordance with the Change Control Process
o Ensure that designs comply with the relevant Codes, Standards, Regulations and procedures
o Ensure, as far as is practically possible, that all assigned work is carried out in compliance with the agreed budget and schedule
o Keep up-to-date with technical developments, National and International standards and legislative requirements related to the discipline scope
o Ensure that estimates and schedules are carried out in a consistent and realistic manner.
o Be member of Technical Response Rota
o Act as design authority for technical safety discipline.
o Maintain good communication with the Client.
o Encourage and provide lateral learning within the Project.
o Undertake discipline engineering activities as required under company procedures (e.g. safety screening, initiation of risk reduction measures to demonstrate ALARP, produce required safety engineering studies, review multi-discipline documents to ensure ALARP designs are adopted, conduct risk assessments and reviews
o Perform safety screening so that Design team know what is required and why.
o Initiate measures to reduce the risks associated with the design to ALARP.
o Produce various safety engineering (and legislative compliance) studies as required for delivery
o Review multi-discipline documents to ensure ALARP designs proposals have been adopted.
o Conduct risk assessments and risk reviews in accordance with existing procedures.
o As required, represent the safety team at kick-off meetings, progress and design review meetings


Health and Safety Responsibilities:
o Have a good understanding of safety legislation (including the requirements of Verification)

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Education & Qualifications:
o Degree qualified engineer
o Chartered engineer, (or ‘equivalent European qualification)
o Direct Safety Engineering experience with a second degree (MSc) in safety related subject.


Specific Training / Specialist Skills:
o Meets Employing Company competency requirements for Lead Engineer.
o Fully conversant with UK regulatory environment, standard offshore international and national industry standards and specifications.


Experience:
o Experience in Brownfield oil and gas engineering preferred.
o Management of change experience/skills
