The Role:
5/2 Almaty
• Establish and maintains QC/QA system on translations generated by other translators. Distribute translations between translators and maintain translation log/database in absence of a translator-coordinator.
• Act as a functional head for translators. Review performance of Company translators - planning, monitoring, and appraising job results and overall performance and provide recommendations to Administrative Supervisor.
• Develop and maintain all contracts with external translation agencies.
• Lead on maintaining and replenishing of the Company EN-RU glossaries. Lead on the development of new glossaries if needed.
• Maintain procedure on translation process (both internal and external). Lead on liaison of the professional relationship with the Company Site Translators’ Pools.
• Perform written translations of letters, instructions, reports, technical and any other type of documentation generated within the Company.
• Act as an interpreter at the meetings with representatives of other companies and/or state agencies, during visits/tours to Company and Company sites as well as at internal Company meetings.
• Provide interpretation for Company Management Team at VIP meetings and other major events involving Company Management Team at various Company facilities.
• Arrange for coverage for Translators.
• Rotate through Company Projects as the Company deems necessary to assign.
• Maintain both personal action and speech in a professional manner.
• Follow all Company policies and lead by example.
• Be available for travel to sites when required.
• Much of required work is independent of supervision; must utilize good time management.
• A person with higher professional education and 5+ year work experience, inclusive 2+ years in the capacity of a Lead or Senior Translator. Must be qualified as a translator.
• Advanced working knowledge of Grammar, Vocabulary and Stylistics.
• Russian – fluent, English – fluent; Kazakh, Chinese and Turkish are desirable.
• Good communication skills – able to communicate with people of different backgrounds. Ability to deal effectively and patiently with people of different backgrounds.
• Computer skills – strong skills in working with Microsoft Office. AutoCAD, FineReader are an advantage.
• Proven supervisory skills – able to organize work of subordinates. Sets goals in performance, assists with prioritizing their work. Evaluates strong skills/competencies as well as areas requiring development, prepares their career development plans if and when required, etc.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks.
• Able to withstand stress.
