Description

This position is for a manager of our Lease Administration business group which stewards the ownership, acreage, payments and obligations of all US and international oil and gas lease/license/contract assets.

This position requires someone with proven people management skills and experience including the ability to grow and develop talent, meet the challenges of a business demands, troubleshoot problems and solutions, and provide a work environment that is motivating, challenging and rewarding to all staff.

ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
This role has the responsibility of managing the entire spectrum of the lease and contract stewardship functions from onboarding leases to the end of their life cycle. Emphasis is on diligence in capturing key asset information, accuracy in carrying out maintenance responsibilities, and leadership in responding to critical business demands in the most effective and efficient way possible. All of this must be completed within the framework of company and business controls while managing expectations of being accountable for the business decisions and achieving performance standards.

An additional important responsibility of this role is to support projects and continuous improvement efforts that make the best and most effective use of our land system and evaluation of processes and procedures. This should result in opportunities to accept enhanced land responsibilities in support of the business while ensuring the efficient capture of asset data and acreage for operations planning and development, and aligning the entire group toward meeting the same goals and standards.
A key responsibility will be the management of business partner interfaces. These include but are not limited to land operations across the domestic, offshore and international spectrum, legal and related issues, operations and related lease/contract data updates due to drilling, completion and temporarily inactive wells, and the many interfaces of lease rental, bonus, broker, partner invoices and payments into the SAP accounting system.

Another key role is the management of the performance management process, individual development plan process, and ensuring that the Lease Administration staff is provided learning opportunities to develop their knowledge and skills through internal or external resources including professional organizations. Participation in the overall performance assessment of staff with other managers in Land Administration is essential.

Qualifications

FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES:
A good working knowledge of real property title principles
Knowledge of various types of leasehold and contract agreements
Flexibility in responding to conflicting demands from management, business partners and owners
Ensure acquisitions, divestitures and grassroots leasing are properly managed and accounted for
Strive to be a strong business, professional and personal mentor
Be familiar with and adhere to Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
Strong skills in coaching, motivating and providing constructive feedback
Some knowledge of oil and gas operations

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 8 years experience preferably in land, land administration, title or division order, and land development with some significant management experience. Familiarity with PRA/SAP is a plus but not required. Skills and experience in related disciplines will be considered.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
A Bachelor Degree and/or advanced degree in Law or Petroleum Land Management is preferrable.
