The Company:
Our Client is an International Company involved in the supply of Energy globally. Their Operations cover Exploration, Production and Downstream and at present they have projects in over 25 Countries worldwide.
In Australia they are involved in one of the Country's largest LNG Projects, including both Gas and Condensate which is currently in Execution Stage.

The Role:
Our client is currently recruiting for a Legal Counsel position, based in Perth and reporting to the Manager Legal Services. The primary function of this full time staff position is to provide legal services for the Perth Office and related sites ensuring the Company's interests are protected.
Key responsibilities include:

• Support all business functions; developing standard contracts, construction contracts, policies and procedures
• Ensure all major contracts, leases, agreements and other arrangements are negotiated within an acceptable legal framework
• Negotiate and draft transactions as well as upstream, midstream and downstream oil and gas agreements
• Provide legal research and advice on petroleum law, corporation's law, contract law, property law, trade practices law, administrative law and other legal research as required
• Support Senior Legal Counsel and Legal Manager
• Work closely with the Project personnel to ensure best legal outcomes for the company
• Work closely with the procurement team to ensure legally robust outcomes are achieved for the company

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• LLB or equivalent legal qualification
• Admission to practice law in Western Australia
• Significant demonstrated experience as a legal practitioner with focus on a commercial/contracts/construction law
• Experience with oil and gas transactions will be highly valued
• Comprehensive knowledge of Australian and international contracts law
• Demonstrated experience in leading complex contract negotiations in addition to establishing and managing corporate governance frameworks for industry
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively engage and guide stakeholders at various levels of the business
• Highly computer literate, a self-sufficient practitioner with strong attention to detail and a service ethos for internal clients
