The Role:
I am currently recruiting for a Legal Counsel to work for my leading client based in Qatar.

The post-holder is responsible for providing legal services at a senior level within the Company, as delegated and instructed by the General Counsel and Board Secretary (GCBS) and/or the Associate General Counsel.

The post-holder:
• helps to achieve the Legal Group’s corporate goals in relation to lower unit costs, and the efficient delegation and allocation of responsibility for providing legal services at a senior level in the Company;
•assists the Legal Group to promptly and efficiently handle and respond to requests for legal services from internal customers;
•assists the Group to manage an increased work-load and to deal with an increasingly complex variety of tasks, which require the GCBS and/ or Associate General Counsel to delegate work at a suitably senior level;
•works in a continuously developing environment, where the ability to self-manage and “think on one’s feet” is required;
•provides legal advice on a broad variety of issues and works effectively in a complex multi-national, multi-cultural environment; and,
•possesses a high degree of freedom in the execution of his/her functions where activities drive performance, which is monitored via the Legal Group customer deadline database and customer satisfaction surveys linked to personal and departmental KPIs.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•Possesses a Bachelor of Law degree (“LL.B”) from a recognized law school.
•Possesses around 5 years of experience working as a commercial lawyer.
•Possesses commercial knowledge related to the oil and gas industry, preferably gained through working for 5 years with multi-national companies as an advantage.

•Is able to demonstrate excellent communication and drafting skills in the English language. A working knowledge of the Arabic language is desirable but not essential.
•Is able to work independently.
•Possesses good negotiating skills
