The Company:
Our client is one of the world's largest integrated energy companies conducting business in countries all around the globe. They are engaged in every aspect of the crude oil and natural gas industry, including exploration and production, manufacturing, marketing and transportation, chemicals manufacturing and sales, geothermal, power generation, renewables and advanced technologies.

The Role:
The Life Cycle Well Engineer (LCWE) (or Deepwater Well Design and Operations Engineer) manages the well engineering workscope for a deepwater project . The LCWE is part of a team of 15 well design professionals and works in close co-operation with the execution rig teams in the Stavanger office. The LCWE reports to the Senior Well Engineer Design, the Front End Design Team Leader or the Senior Well Engineer Operations (depending on status of the project).

• Participate in a team of professional well engineers, located partly in Stavanger and partly in Rijswijk, to carry out conceptual and detailed well design for world class deepwater projects in Norway and various international locations (deepwater single string exploration).
• Manage the well design process through various lifecycle stages:
• Feasibility Review, Concept Select, Detailed Design, Execution.
• Co-ordinate design reviews.
• Communicate with various stakeholders, such as subsurface team, execution team, suppliers, logistics team, HSE technicians, contract and procurement team, government authorities, in-house technical specialists, etc.
• Ensure that the well design and well construction plan meet all relevant HSE requirements and design standards.
• Carry out detailed well engineering calculations.
• Select optimum well technology solutions and well equipment and prepare procurement specifications.
• Prepare relevant well design documentation and well construction programmes.
• Manage suppliers and co-ordinate equipment delivery.
• Organize communication sessions with suppliers and execution team.
• Set performance targets and streamline the work to improve drilling performance.
• Prepare project cost estimates.
• Co-ordinate support from technical specialists in the Deepwater organization in Houston (and other technology centers).

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• At least a Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years well engineering experience, including experience as well-site operations engineer, well design engineer and/or operations engineer.
• Preferably experience with floating drilling operations.
• Substantial competencies in well planning, use of well engineering software, casing design, selection of well equipment, cost and risk estimating methods.
• Experience with set up and management of contracts of service providers.
• Experience with HSE management.
• Good team player with proven communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects, map out milestones and deliverables and meet deadlines.
• Comfortable with working in a diverse and multi-disciplinary environment.
• Ability and flexibility to make business trips internationally.
• Good communicator in English.
