The Company:
An operator with extensive brownfield construction work for onshore gas gathering projects in Algeria is looking for a back to back team of Lifting Specialists to work on even rotation in Algeria on the construction site.

The Role:
The Lifting Specialist is seen as a vital member of the Projects Team who will, through working closely with both the CLIENT team and the construction contractors, improve all aspects of lifting activities within Projects site construction areas. Main responsibilities will be:
• Ensure all work executed by the construction contractor is carried out in a professional, safe & environmentally friendly manner at all times.
• Provide assurance that all lifting activities are performed in accordance with required codes and specifications
• Provide effective coaching and motivation to Project and Contractor personnel such that hazards of lifting operations are fully understood and executed safely
• Assist in the preparation, review and implementation of risk assessments and method statements for planned construction activities
• Ensure the correct implementation of the CLIENT Control of Work Standard (including the Permit to Work system) at all construction sites
• Review contractors construction schedules to ensure they include all required activities as lifting planes, realistic timelines, logical sequencing, adequate resources
• Ensure Contractors personnel have sufficient training and experience to carry out safe lifting operations
• Utilize the established Management of Change (MOC) and Site Technical Query (STQ) procedures for addressing construction changes/issues in the field
• Ensure Contractors lifting equipment and lifting accessories are fully inspected, certified and maintained to a high standard
• Attend progress meetings with construction contractors
• Interface with other key personnel in the Projects team
Ensure detailed handover notes are prepared for “back to back” at end of rotation

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• College/University degree standard – in construction engineering or other relevant subject (certified evidence of 10 years relevant experience in a similar role may be acceptable in place of a university degree)
• Certification as lifting equipment inspector and crane operator (e.g. ECITB Level 3 NVQ-Moving Loads)
• 10 years plus experience in construction activities within the hydrocarbon industry
• Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in Rigging and lifting operations. Particular experience in land pipeline construction is preferred (e.g. stringing, pipe bending, lower and lay)
