Our Client is a Global Leading Oil & Gas Operating Company

The Role:
The Line Pipe Metallurgy Specialist provides project technical support for line pipe manufacture and supply in upstream oil and gas production and will be located in Houston, TX.


Primary Job Functions:

• Support new construction projects with assistance in the specification, selection, qualification, testing, and failure analysis of line pipe, processing, and structural materials. Work with materials suppliers to qualify new line pipe materials and corrosion resistant alloys (including duplex and lean duplex).
• Work with internal procurement regarding mill audits and technical bid evaluation for large scale line pipe orders
• Work with engineering and construction contractors to specify and select line pipe materials for large scale offshore and onshore field development construction projects
• Revise internal specifications for construction, purchasing, and fabrication of line pipe materials to implement lessons learned and current industry standards
• Represent company in international technical and standards organizations

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
.S./M.S./Ph.D. in metallurgical engineering, material science, or related field with demonstrated industry experience
• Direct experience with line pipe production as well as materials specification for demanding environments including low temperature and sour service
• Familiarity with metallurgical processing, material fabrication, welding, mechanical and corrosion testing, as well as failure analysis of carbon steel and corrosion resistant alloys
• Conversant in industry standard practices and documentation for welding, testing, inspection, and specification of pipelines
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to supplier and field production locations

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Project engineering experience on large construction projects
• General knowledge of corrosion electrochemistry and corrosion inhibition of tubular goods
• Practical experience with standard test methods for mechanical testing and fracture mechanics
• Expertise in codes and standards applied, including API, ASME, ASTM, DNV, and ISO
• Self-motivated and focused on achieving business results through a multi-disciplinary team
• Demonstrated teamwork and leadership skills
