The Role:
The Contingency Planner is responsible for the coordination of planning activity relating to contingency scenarios. This involves writing specified plans as well as maintaining a contingency focus within baseline planning by interfacing with Risk, Scheduling, Operations and Modelling team members.

Accountable for:
This position reports to the Execution Planning Manager.
The Contingency Planner will act as the focal point for all contingency related work, ensuring:
Logistics contingency plans are kept up to date and are resourced
Contingency and “what if” is considered in all areas of planning activity
A robust linkage exists between Risk, Scheduling, Operations and Modelling Teams


Writing, maintaining and resourcing contingency plans
Rehearsing / wargaming/ costing / modelling contingency situations
Maintaining of relevant project wiki pages and mapping tools to support the generation of contingency options
Asking “what if” and challenging the baseline plan
Travelling to and gathering information on various locations being used in baseline and contingency plan options
Identify risks within the Logistics sphere of control
Use risk management principles in making recommendations for contingency plans
Plan to limit the impacts of potential risks and incidents

Logistics Planning Team
Risk and Interface Management System / Team
Logistics Scheduling Team (P6 Team)
Discrete Event Simulation Modelling Team
Operations managers and contract scope owners

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Minimum Years of Industry Specific Experience: 6 years preferable
Minimum Years of Total Experience: 10

Required Skills/Attributes:
Previous experience of operational logistics and logistics planning essential; the incumbent will be well rounded in terms of operational logistics experience.
Will be able to work in a team environment and work along with Senior Management requirements and tasks.
Well versed in crafting plans and strawman papers to provide realistic costed solutions to complex problems.
Previous role conducting contingency planning/management key
Risk management experience key; well versed in risk management methodologies
Demonstrate a strong analytical approach to problem solving
Experience in compiling reconnaissance reports
Excellent information management skills
Good geographic information management skills
Flexibility to adapt to changing environments and work in other countries
High level of competence in MS Office: Word, Powerpoint and Excel
