The Company:
Projects do not get much more exciting than our exploration and appraisal drilling campaign in Tanzania. Tanzania provides us with an excellent opportunity to enhance our gas chain strategy in East Africa and for you; this means the chance to get involved in the initial stages of one of the region’s most exciting exploration projects – playing an active role in the development of Tanzania’s energy sector

The Role:
To develop and manage the provision of Logistics Support and Materials Management to the BG exploration/appraisal drilling campaign in Tanzania.
Responsible for provision and management of all aviation, marine and shore base activities in support of the BG drilling campaign.

Is also responsible for the safe conduct of operations for the MUFA partners in the shared supply base and for fulfilling the responsibilities of COM under the MUFA agreement.

Has oversight over the Phase 2 upgrade construction activities and works closely with the BG Construction Project Manager to ensure construction activities are carried out in a safe efficient manner with minimal impact on the daily logistics operations.

Reports to the Well Engineering Manager.
Has the Offshore and Onshore Drilling Logistics Coordinators and supporting personnel as direct reports and is responsible for managing the aviation, marine and supply base contractors.

Peers within the organization are the Drilling Team

Responsible for the development and management of BG Tanzania Logistics and Materials Supply Base.

Responsible for the development and management of BG Tanzania Logistics and Materials Management Procedures and Strategies (including Aviation and Marine).

Responsible for managing Freight Forwarding and Customs requirements.

Responsible for applying relevant legislative, HSSE, BG and industry standards to accountable areas.

Responsible for managing BG Logistics and Materials support to optimize Cost, Efficiency and HSE performance.

Responsible for Supply Base Operations on behalf of the MUFA partnership.

Authority and Influence over Resources

Makes recommendations on local staff selection, resource planning and training.
Responsible to the Well Engineering Manager for the management and delivery of multi million pound budget.

Responsible to the Well Engineering Manager for delivery of systems, procedures and strategies.

Responsible for the delivery of services to the MUFA partners within the approved MUFA budgets and for cost tracking and control of MUFA operations expenditure.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Extensive industry experience of materials and logistics management.

Experience in a similar ‘start up’ phase of exploration drilling activity.

Experience in a similar role in Africa or another remote location.

Experience in running a multi operator supply base operation in a remote location.

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:

HND/Degree desirable.
Computer literate with competency in Microsoft Office applications and SAP

Strong management and leadership skills

Effective communicator both oral and written

Self starter with good business awareness

Resilient and able to cope with the frustrations that working in a remote environment will bring.
