The Role:
• Acts as the First Response Team leader who will respond to and coordinate any first response to fire, medical, spill and/or rescue on site while awaiting site based Emergency Services. Provides leadership to the Emergency Response Team on shift. Interacts with outside agencies that render assistance in an emergency.
• Conducts Emergency Response exercises and training to shift personnel.
• Acts to administer First Aid treatment when there is no nurse on site.
• Acts as Safety representative on shift for the plant process areas.
• Coordinates the shift activities and requirements for Safety Technicians and Safety Watches inside the process areas for PTW.
• Ensures compliance to tests and inspection requirements for all plant fire and safety equipment.
• Assist with the operational support of PTW activities; including safe work planning and review and sign off of JHA and Method Statements covering any work activities inside of the Process Area.
• Acts as authorized Safety Representative for certification of Confined Space entry.
• Assist with immediate site investigations and evidence gathering following any incident, accident and or emergency event. Facilitate formal reviews on shift for minor incidents.
• Monitor and report on compliance to company HSE policies within the process areas.
• Participate in facility inspections and audits within the plant site. Follow-up to ensure completion of actions related to safety and emergency services.
• Facilitate shift safety meetings. Follow-up to ensure completion of actions.
• Assists the Safety Specialist and Emergency Services Specialist in program development when not on shift.
• Provide written reports on the operational status of safety and emergency services in the process area.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Education:
o 3 years Diploma or above.
o Training in relevant elements of Safety and Loss Prevention such as Nebosh Certificate or similar.
o Recognized Fire instructor qualification
o NFPA 472 or equivalent in Hazardous materials for first responders operations
o Recognized certification in Medical First Response
o Advanced Petrochemical Fire Fighting course.

• Experience:
o 6 years operational experience in an emergency service in a petrochemical facility.
o Able to demonstrate applied knowledge and experience in the role of an emergency response leader.
o Demonstrated experience and involvement in petrochemical plant safety.

• Other, job related requirements:

o Valid Vehicle Drivers license
o Have good communication and interpersonal skills to gain co-operation of others and be able to communicate clearly in case of an emergency.
o Effective english communication skills including written, oral and electronic.
o Be computer literate and able to operate in
