The Company:
Our client is a major Owner/Operator in Canada with headquarters in Calgary, AB. They are one of Canada’s largest producers of Crude Oil and Natural Gas as well as Canada’s largest refiner. Most of their Canadian projects are located in Northern Alberta’s Oil Sands.

• Position is in Cold Lake, Alberta, Canada.
o Option to live in project camp or in local area.
o Residential preferred; rotations will be considered.
• Focus of assignment is construction and commissioning of two GE Frame 7E

The Role:
I. General Description of Contractor’s Services –

Contractor shall be qualified as Specialist to provide the following services –
• Management of Project’s Machinery construction and commissioning, particularly the GE Frame 7E Gas Turbine Generators (GTG) and associated Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG).
• Provide overall rotating equipment technical leadership and expertise.

Contractor shall –
• Support the Site Engineering and Site Construction Managers to ensure that Machinery installations are in compliance with contractual requirements.

II. List of Contractor’s Services –

• Support Commissioning and Start-up Group as required.
• Field focal point for all day-to-day machinery aspects associated with the installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up project phases.
• Provide support, and clarify owner expectations to Contractor and Vendor on technical, quality and procedural issues associated with site mechanical work execution. Identify/assist where possible with resolving conflicts between Contractor and Vendor, where applicable to the Machinery Package. This activity shall involve regular attendance at site coordination meetings with project team, contractor, and the vendor, and at the daily work meetings at site.
• Ensure field work teams are making reference to and complying with approved documentation and procedures for all work.
• Particular focus should be made to ensure the following activities are carried out in accordance with approved project procedures, vendor recommendations and proven good practice.
o Drive Train Alignment
o Connecting piping to Machinery
o System flushing: Including Lube oil, hydraulic oil, control oil systems
o Line blowing: Including seal gas, separation gas, fuel gas, steam lines, instrument air lines, inlet bleed heating systems, CO2 fire extinguishing systems, water wash lines etc
o Air Inlet system and enclosure leak checks
o Air Inlet system cleaning
o Exhaust system, vent line cleaning
o HRSG preparations, steam blowing, etc.
• Monitor the actual vs. planned progress of activities and escalate potential issues when quality or schedule risks become evident.
• Field verification that all equipment has been installed in accordance with the project and vendor drawings.
• Ensure contractor and vendor is following the approved MOC processes.
• Verify the equipment associated with the Machinery Package is preserved in accordance with the vendor and project requirements while installed in the field. Monitor field work progress to ensure all Machinery Package systems are kept clean and that workers are not leaving previously cleaned systems open to the atmosphere during work execution.
• Provide field related mechanical and machinery support for the following activities:
o Function tests of all aux systems
o Start up and shutdown sequence tests
o Initial start-up and performance testing
o Special testing – e.g. Generator load tests etc.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science (or higher) degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 15+ years of closely related professional engineering experience, 10+ years of which should be at the Senior Machinery Engineer level.
• 5+ years as Lead Machinery Engineer on a large capital project.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs.

• GE Frame Gas Turbines, Generators, and Heat Recovery Steam Generators
• Machinery design, fabrication, transportation, commissioning, and start-up principles, theories, and concepts.
• Applicable codes, standards, and trade practices.
• Thorough knowledge and expert judgment in the selection and application of Machinery equipment design analyses hardware and software.
