The Company:
With interests in over 20 UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) fields, my Client has one of the most significant exploration and production businesses in the offshore waters of the UK.

The Role:
The post holder is a member of the Accounting Team. Specific responsibilities are to play a key role in the Finance Accounting function to provide an efficient, professional financial support to the Asset to help drive champion corporate governance.
Specific accountabilities are:
• To monitor and review G&A costs for the Asset, including cost control and allocation of costs via timewriting by UKU staff.
• Documentation of all G&A-related processes which are reviewed at least annually.
• Preparation and review of accurate monthly G&A management accounts.
• Generation of monthly journals for month end processing.
• Liaise with the Operated Asset and Non-Operated Asset teams to ensure all deadlines are met for month end processing.
• Preparation of monthly reports required by Group Finance and Regional Finance.
• Specifically responsible for the cashflow and working capital reporting for the asset.
• Articulate operational issues impacting the assets financials to other audiences outside the asset including Group Finance and Regional Finance.
• Take the lead during joint ventrue MVAC audits to explain G&A charges to joint operations (including follow-up and closure of all MVAC G&A-related audit findings.)
• Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly forecasts and annual Budget and Business Plan for the Asset including controlling data input into Cognos and preparation of supporting commentaries.
• Liaise and assist with PWC quarterly and annual audits.
• Preparation of the UKU Legal entities Statutory Accounts.
• Maintaince of the accounting system for timewriting purposes.
• Maintain all Financial Control Assurance documentation inconnection with the role.
• Seek continuous improvement of processes and procedures within the UKU Finance team.
• Provide support and cover to the Revenue Accountant, Joint Venture Accountant and Management Accountant.
• Ad hoc projects as directed.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Preferably a qualified accountant.
• Must be able to understand Client Finance process and procedures and be capable of using them to add value to the UKU business.
• Likely to be experienced in presenting financial reporting data, capable of drilling down to the critical points for a management or non-finance audience.
• Previous experience within a finance function.
• Numerate with a good grasp of accounting fundamentals.
• Sound knowledge of oil & gas accounting and technical accounting background.
• Strong working knowledge of SAP, COGNOS, BI, Excel & PowerPoint.
• Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
• Performance focused, demonstrates the ability to plan and organize a large volume of activity, committed and capable of working under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
• Demonstrates initiative and creativity to discover and implement new ways of team working.
• Ability to deal with set-backs and not to be deflected from achieving targets.
