The Role:
The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the activities of the Risk & Compliance function and ensuring that the risk and compliance management processes are conducted in an efficient and effective manner. He / she will be responsible for directing the Risk Management activities across the company, ensuring that the company’s business objectives and strategy are reflected in the Risk Management processes. The incumbent will also be tasked for leading and managing the company’s compliance activities. He / she will spearhead the organisations’s compliance efforts in a proactive manner to prevent the company from exposure to risk of legal / regulatory sanctions and the associated financial / reputation loss as a result of failure to comply with applicable laws, regulations, codes of conduct and standards of good practice relevant to the company’s activities.

• Lead the formulation of strategy, annual business plan / budget, policies and procedures of the Risk & Compliance Section.
• Assist the Chief Executive Officer in formulating and maintaining the company’s Risk and Compliance Management framework and related policies and procedures that are responsive to the company’s strategies and objectives, and aligned with relevant regulatory requirements and leading practices.
• Create and manage a comprehensive compliance program that will foster a compliance culture embedded within all aspects of the company’s business.
• Manage and lead the Risk & Compliance Section in meeting its set targets and objectives in order to contribute to the achievement of the company’s overall objectives.
• Create and evaluate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for performance monitoring for the entire Risk & Compliance Section and monitor their achievements on a regular basis.
• Build and maintain strong and effective relationship with all other departments to achieve the Section’s goals/ objectives.

• Lead the identification and assessment of enterprise-wide risks associated with the domestic and international business activities / operations of the company on a proactive basis in terms of financial, operational, and reputational factors.
• Assist the Chief Executive Officer and senior management in developing and communicating the company’s Risk Management policies & procedures, including risk appetite and risk limits / tolerance.
• Lead the Risk Appetite and Risk and Control Self Assessment (RCSA) sessions of the company.
• Oversee the analysis of current or proposed business operations to identify areas of risk / potential loss or damage and quantify impact.
• Design control activities to measure and monitor risk across the organization. Develop a centralized process for aggregating and reporting risk information from various sources to provide a comprehensive view to executive management and the Audit Committee of the company’s overall risk exposure.
• Lead the identification of risk mitigation strategies for all identified risks faced by the company in coordination with the respective Departments / Sections.
• Lead the Compliance function in serving as an independent review and evaluation body to ensure that compliance issues / concerns within the organization are being appropriately evaluated, investigated and resolved.
• Direct the Compliance function in monitoring the organisation’s level of compliance to relevant laws, regulations and standards through its regular performance of compliance testing based on the risk assessment exercise.
• Oversee the Compliance function in monitoring local and international developments in relevant jurisdictions and in identifying the pertinent rules, regulations and standards that the company should comply with.
• Report on a regular basis to the Audit Committee and Executive Management on risk and compliance matters / issues, identified breaches, and the necessary corrective action(s) taken.
• Build a platform for effective coordination of Risk Management and Compliance agendas across various functional areas throughout the organisation.
• Lead the Risk & Compliance function in monitoring and coordinating compliance / risk management activities of other departments / sections to remain abreast of the status of all compliance / risk management activities across the company and to identify trends.
• Lead the development and delivery of Risk Management & Compliance trainings for company employees to ensure that management and staff are equipped to manage risks across the organization.
• Keep the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the Audit Committee informed of significant Risk and Compliance issues that may jeopardize the achievement of company goals.
• Stay abreast of current and changing trends and leading practices in risk management and compliance management.
• Review and approve reports prepared / generated by the Risk & Compliance Section.
• Perform any other tasks as directed by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

• Supervise direct subordinates in their day-to-day tasks and provide guidance in managing performance by providing appropriate feedback, mentoring and counseling.
• Allocate work to direct subordinates, nominate for training as per compnay guidelines, conduct performance reviews and manage leave and overtime to ensure efficiency.
• Approve regular vacation scheduling, business leave and emergency leave of direct subordinates in accordance with the Human Resources policies and procedures

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or other related discipline from a recognized university
• MBA or Master’s degree in related field is strongly desired.
• Professional certification such as PRM, FRM, CFA is preferable.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in risk management and compliance role, of which a minimum of 5-6 years should be in a similar position/responsibility, preferably with exposure in a similar industry.
