The Role:
Main Responsibilities

Select an appropriate analytical tool(s) for each assignment
Identify, obtain, sort and organise sources of information, both from the public domain and internal databases
Validate, analyse and critically assess sources of information
Manipulate company products to extract information and data for consulting projects
Take ownership of and responsibility for analysis undertaken
Generate options and concepts
Prepare high quality written reports in Word and/or PowerPoint
Keep abreast of developments in the energy industry
Follow consulting procedures and methodologies
Consulting projects:

Liaise with colleagues in Research and Consulting to pool information required for consulting projects
Create graphics that deliver messages concisely and effectively
Work directly with clients to generate ideas and solve problems
Be adaptable to work on projects involving gas, power, coal and downstream issues in addition to upstream-focused projects
Project management (for small consulting projects) and managing tasks:

Plan own work ensuring short and medium term plans met
Prioritise own work ensuring project objectives are met
Plan the timing, resource and budgeting fees for projects
Communicate with Consulting and Research colleagues to ensure appropriate resource allocations of projects
Ensure the on-track progress of the project in relation to the plan
Ensure that projects are delivered within budget and on time
Business development (will be developed over time, depending on experience):

Develop relationships with consulting clients to foster repeat business
Participate in industry events to network with potential clients, where appropriate
Discuss consulting needs with clients, prepare and present proposals to clients

Establish good working relationships with colleagues across the Energy Division
Contact clients making enquiries, and handle queries from clients
Keep client and internal team informed of progress at all times
Share information with team (and Research/Account Management)
Knowledge and Experience
Knowledge of the energy industry, in particular the upstream oil & gas sector, gained from 2-4 years’ experience. Proven experience of working in project teams, whether in a consulting context or within an operating or service company.
