Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.
"The Tooling and Pressed Parts Engineering Group is responsible for sheet metal tooling programs, facilities and technologies for all vehicles. This includes managing the design, manufacture and successful launch of tooling into companies nominated press facilities. This Engineering role is responsible for specification and procurement of tools, operating from the start of die design through to final commissioning and sign-off in nominated press facility."
3 KEY SKILLS REQUIRED
1. A thorough understanding of press tool design, methods and technologies.
2. Knowledge and familiarity with key processes, facilities and technologies used throughout the pressed parts process chain.
3. Able to deal with complex technical situations and identify clear navigational paths through them
Skills Preferred: The Tooling and Pressed Parts Engineering Group is responsible for forming technologies, tooling programmes and facilities for all vehicles. This includes managing the development, manufacture and successful launch of tooling and equipment into nominated press facilities as well as providing the foundation for drive towards world class BIW quality and cost performance. Within this group, the Technology, Standards and Business Office is responsible for developing and deploying the tools and methods to establish direction and drive improvements to the overall enterprise encompassing such things as capacity planning, technology, materials and process developments as well as quality systems and standards. This Quality Processes role is responsible for creating, implementing and maintaining quality systems that help fulfil the mission and the goals of the department. It necessitates the planning, evaluation and improvement of business processes and procedures to enhance speed, quality, efficiency and output.
Additional Information : Whilst Gaydon based, candidates will be expected to be mobile with extensive travel to overseas suppliers and each of our Press Shops NB: Frequent travel to Press Shops & overseas
Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Experience Required: "Proven experience in the following: Working with Tooling Project Planners and Purchasing Group to establish a viable timeline and plan for an assigned portfolio of press tools. Managing progress, and delivery of tooling into press facilities whilst ensuring compliance with targets for performance, quality standards, program timing and cost. Operating as subject matter expert and `owner¿ of an assigned portfolio of tooling, providing regular, structured updates on performance, quality, timing and cost. Drive for best possible tooling outcomes by ensuring that the design phase maximises panel quality and overall `hits per hour performance. Establishing a professional, engineering interface with product design and tooling vendors to ensure robust management of engineering change with minimal impact to the project outcomes A good level of business acumen."
Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Experience Preferred: "An ability to work with Tooling suppliers from Eu and Asia Ensuring tooling complies with standards and meets or exceeds target press facility performance. Assuming responsibility for all aspects of panel dimensional and cosmetic quality as well as fit for purpose build in BIW assembly facilities. Managing the interfaces with Product design, Toolmakers, BIW assembly, Quality during early build and launch phases. Developing and reporting on KPI's Ensuring learning from one program to another is captured and contained within engineering standards and operating procedures. Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred "
