The Manufacturing Engineer will Ensure design for manufacture / assembly is integrated into new and modified products. Ensure that post design release, robust manufacturing plans are put in place using applicable processes covering manufacture, assembly and test.
As required, inputting into the design process (DR4 through DR5) with a specific emphasis on ensuring the final design can be manufactured, assembled and tested.
As required, forming part of the Project Team involved in the introduction of new or modified designs. This may involve being co-located with the Project Team.
Key member of the Make / Buy review.
The Manufacturing Engineer will be Inputting into estimates associated with manufacturing deliverables ensuring that the associated risks, assumptions and exclusions are defined as necessary.
Following interpretation of the design package (GA’s, Details, Parts List, specifications, contract order etc), generation of the manufacturing plan within the MRP system covering all internal & associated sub-contract operations.
Liaison with the design team (internal or external) if a potential problem is identified.
Initiating budgetary change control inline with company practices.
Generation of the Manufacturing, Inspection & Test Plan’s (MITP’s) for Manufacturing related deliverables.
The Manufacturing Engineer will be Inputting into the generation of build & test documentation.
Problem solving during manufacture / build as applicable.
Ensuring Non Conformance Reporting is carried out inline with company procedures where defective parts / assemblies are identified.
Developing effective communications and relationships within the Manufacturing Team.
Recognising and developing internal and external customer and supplier relationships.
Supporting the implementation of new ways of working, equipment and processes in order to improve the department productivity and quality.
Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Essential experience, knowledge and skills:
Hands on experience within a manufacturing environment.
Experienced in the interpretation of engineering designs and defining how the part will be manufactured and assembled in the most cost effective and efficient way.
