The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
Logistics Engineer - Material Planning & Logistics You'll join a team of specialist Engineers. Among the best in the industry, these dedicated professionals are closely aligned to Production operations. Like them you'll work in a way that's highly responsive, with a total commitment to delivering excellent results. You'll support the development and implementation of logistics solutions to meet the needs of both internal and external customers. It's a role with a broad range of crucial responsibilities. Your remit will span the planning, procurement, implementation and commissioning of materials handling facilities in support of New Model programmes and Engineering Changes. It will include the planning, space calculation, co-ordination and implementation of materials handling layout and facility changes driven by special plant strategic actions. We'll expect you to manage a range of projects and to manage the performance and safety of vendors and contractors onsite, carrying our fabrication, repair or installations. Strong interpersonal and communications skills will be vital, as you'll work closely with a broad range of parties. Managing pallet and internal trailer repair contracts, you'll actively ensure high standards and budget achievement by developing performance metrics to drive performance. Working closely with the Purchase Buyer, you'll assist with vendor selection as part of our competitive tendering process. Working with Production teams you'll contribute to the detailed planning and co-ordination of Cycle Line layout.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
You will bring to the role a professional track record in Material Planning and Logistics. Experience of material flow planning including sequencing / JIT is essential. Experience of Kan Ban / MRP systems / WMS is desirable. Experience of using CAD for factory layout planning will be an advantage though training can be provided.. We would prefer you to have an appreciation of lean manufacturing and pallet design principles plus preventative maintenance practice. Analytical, numeracy and problem solving skills are crucial. You may also be able to work some weekends in support of critical project work or operational needs.
