The Company:
Our client specialise in the design, manufacture, assembly, test, installation and commissioning of bespoke solutions for the nuclear decommissioning, defence, and nuclear new build markets.

The Role:
As the Production/Manufacturing Engineering Manager you will develop and lead a team which will play a significant part in ‘Transforming Manufacturing’ through a continuous improvement programme. To support and help create a re-developed manufacturing operation capable of meeting both current and future challenges.

An experienced Production Engineer is required to take a leading role of Production Engineers, utilising strong people management skills and techniques, setting and implementing a proactive and customer focused engineering support for the Wolverhampton facility and other sites as required. The role will be reporting to the Head of Manufacturing and working alongside the Manufacturing Management Team.

• Ensure manufacturing methods and processes within the facility are capable of meeting current and future products for quality, delivery rate and cost.
• Develop the process capability through the ‘Route Card’ used in manufacturing.
• Develop, improve and provide innovation to manufacturing processes and techniques, including the trial and implementation of new technologies
• Support new product introduction activities, ensuring that new capabilities/methods are at the required level for readiness for production and application.
• Integrate capability acquisitions and product introduction activities on behalf of the facility, buying off new equipment and methods of manufacture for new products and/or work packages.
• Be responsible for departmental manpower, retention, performance and succession planning.
• Raise professional competence and image of the function, developing the team through training opportunities that will realise benefits in efficiency within production.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Experience in manufacturing methods and techniques of CNC machining, welding and fabrication, mechanical and electrical fitting, subcontract finishing, assembly and test.
• Comfortable with medium sized engineering and good knowledge of materials
• Quality systems and procedures in a highly regulated environment.
• Good people supervision, team leadership and negotiation skills.
• Through knowledge of productivity/cost reduction and factory throughput improvements.
• Change management and Continuous Improvement skills and experience.
• CAD/CAM experience and use of.
• Inspection procedures and methods
• Supply-chain (Customer & supplier) exposure
• Knowledge and or experience of maintenance
• Capital Expenditure, business case and financial justification preparation
• Degree in mechanical/Production Engineering or HNC/HND/apprentice background
