The Role:
• The service holder act as the COMPANY representative and is in charge, within the FPSO team and under the responsibility of the Company Marine Master, of proper monitoring of all activities during the final inspections of two VLCCs prior definitive purchase date (starting from last discharge operation until the official hand-over date) further called the “COMPANY pre-delivery activities” and “COMPANY final inspections”, and continuing during one month after each VLCCs hand-over (covering the timing of contradictory inspection done by the conversion contractor) and further called “Contractor final inspection”.
• The service holder shall have served on board VLCC as Chief Engineer. The service holder shall either have valid marine safety certificates (STCW 2010) or have a valid BOSIET/HUET certificates. The service holder shall have a strong marine equipment knowledge and skill. The service holder shall defend COMPANY’s interests in competitive and challenging VLCCs and marine equipment inspection activities.
• The service holder will ensure, during the VLCCs pre-delivery activities, the COMPANY final inspections and the CONTRACTOR final inspections, that all deliverables and documents (both internal and external) related to the disciplines and subjects he/she is in charge of are timely and properly issued and fitted for purpose.
• He/she shall ensure compliance of all personnel (Contractor’s and VLCC’s crew) involved in the pre-delivery activities with international regulation, Tanker’s ISM (e.g. Work Permit, HSE management system, etc...), OCMIF and other Marine recommendations and Company strong HSSEQ requirements and specification. He/she will review deviations to Company specifications or deviations requests/technical queries. The service holder will be the Contractor contact point for all matters related to the disciplines and subjects he/she is in charge of.
• The service holder will participate in the management of discipline-related interfaces with other concerned disciplines/packages. He/she is responsible for monitoring/managing the inspection performed onboard the VLCCs and subjects he/she is in charge of.
• He/she will timely and actively liaise with other VLCCs COMPANY final inspections participants and report promptly to COMPANY of progress and issues status. The service holder will also participate in the follow-up of the CONTRACTOR Final inspections on yard. He/she will remain, with regards to the disciplines and subjects he/she is in charge of, the correspondent for VLCCs pre-delivery activities, VLCCs final Inspections and VLCCs hand-over occurring problems, and for any advice to be given or technical deviation request to be analysed and answered.
• The service holder will be the leader of the schedule during the inspections and will
ensure that with regards to the disciplines and subjects he/she is in charge of, the planning will be followed and delivery occurs on time. The service holder will actively participate and lead the daily meeting onboard the VLCCs during the COMPANY final inspections.
• The service holder will assist the FPSO Deputy Hull Leader in relationship with the Contractor for all the disciplines and subjects he/she is in charge of. The job holder reports to the FPSO Deputy Hull Leader.
• The service holder is also accountable for demonstrating an exemplary behaviour with regard to HSSE rules and requirements and for ensuring their application within his scope of responsibility.

• Marine Automation knowledge
• Hull structure/deck outfitting
• Marine maintenance expertise
• Marine instrumentation knowledge
• Marine electrical knowledge
• Marine Piping & Valves knowledge
• Cargo/cranes and deck ancillaries maintenance

• Project management (deliverables /Schedule)
• Knowledge of SOLAS/ISGOTT rules/procedures
• Knowledge of international Maritime Best practice
• Management / negotiation of/with contractors
• Tanker Condition assessment
• HSE sense and awareness
• Organisational Skills

• Marine chief Engineer class 1 Licence, with significant experience as Chief Engineer on board VLCC
• High sense of reporting
• High communication skill in order to ease the interface between owner’s crew, third party surveyor and CONTRACTOR representatives.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Professional Experience (years): 10-20
• Experience in similar position (years): +/- 10 (Experience in FPSO conversion)
• Level / Diploma: Class 1 Marine Engineer, Chief Engineer (served on VLCC).
