The Company:
Our Client is an International Oil and Gas Operator involved in 2 of Australia's largest LNG Projects based in Western Australia.

The Role:
The principle function of the Radio Operator/Marine Coordinator will be to provide continuous, 24 hour coverage of all port communications and to competently operate associated marine traffic management equipment and systems to ensure the safety of all vessels operating within the harbour. Consideration must be given to the dynamic requirement of this position to the extent that the RO/MC must be able to adapt to the changing equipment and requirements of the job as the project matures and traffic volumes grow and construction work becomes more complex.

Some of their duties should include, but not be limited to, the following:
• Monitor the movement of all marine vessels in the general vicinity of site. The vessels will include LCT’s, Barges including Bulk Fuel Barges, Supply Vessels, Drdging and Construction Spreads, Accommodation Vessels, Passenger Transfer Vessels, Roll on/Roll off vessel and Heavy Lift & Module Carriers. Vessels will have a mix of origins and destinations including Dampier, Perth, Exmouth and Overseas. • Maintain a permanent listening watch on telephone, VHF Marine and VHF Field radios, being conversant with standard maritime vocabulary and competent as a restricted radio operator for marine operations.
• Maintaining a log of all communications and activities within the Port.
• Appropriately respond to vessel emergencies by following established procedures and lines of communication.
• Controlling and regulating Marine Communications and reporting requirements in accordance with Barrow Island Port Regulations.
• Monitor operations within the port through the operation of all current and future equipment to effect safe vessel management.

Competently implement the Daily Activity Schedule and respond to changes as they develop. Ensure that the marine operation meets Chevron’s Operational Excellence requirements – in particular the requirements of the Marine Safety Reliability & Efficiency (MSRE ) around‘ Personnel Transfer’ and ‘Fuel Transfer’ as well as meeting ‘Incident and Injury Free’ ( IIF) objectives.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Good understanding of tidal movements and current flows – particularly in a shallow water environment.
- Good understanding of meteorology and local weather patterns & cycles Understanding of the Cyclone Contingency Plan and the communications required to facilitate it’s implementation Understanding of Australian Government Quarantine regulations and requirements.
- Understanding of Western Australia Harbour regulations.
- Knowledgeable in marine emergency response practices liaising with and taking functional guidance from Marine Operations to ensure consistency and alignment with the clients marine operational standards and procedures.
- Keeps current on industry best practices / Lessons Learned, applicable international conventions, and national and local laws and regulations as they pertain to marine operations.
- Monitors proposed changes in environmental regulatory
