POSITION SUMMARY:
Market Intelligence Support Specialist position, located in Houston, Texas, will be part of the E&P Global Supply Chain (GSC) Team supporting Global Strategic Sourcing projects. This position will work closely with team members and key stakeholders on a wide range of supply chain initiatives to deliver significant value to the E&P Organization.

Key responsibility will be project management, relationship management and providing direction and guidance on application of Market Intelligence and execution of total cost of ownership analytics.
The successful candidate will have strong analytics, presentation development and project change management skills and will be expected to work in a Team atmosphere supporting the complete valued chain and the GSC Account areas while working with limited supervision and will need to plan for and manage his/her daily activities and complex projects/issues. Successful candidate will be expected to apply analytical, technical, and industry knowledge, standards and practices to routine assignments and complex projects.

ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conducts business and financial analysis including supplier, spend, market, decision and budget analyses. Analyzes supplier activities, market share changes and swings in business and prepare projections on how these may influence future supplier proposals or negotiations. Develop first cost and total cost models and other related assessments.
Manage Market Intelligence processes including development of Quarterly Market Update with Category Managers.
Manages MI subscriptions and key relationships with MI providers.
Maintains organizational resources via Market Intelligence Website to support of GSC professionals in development of sourcing tenders, negotiations and contract strategies.
Supports GSC teams through benchmarking, cost management, alternative sourcing and supply chain management studies. May also plan stakeholder engagement sessions and organize/conduct other meetings and events involving Client and supplier representatives.
Facilitate the execution of Client Strategic Sourcing Process for strategic E&P sourcing projects (often greater than $10 million):
Define the sourcing project, including in-scope v. out-of-scope, as well as roles and responsibilities of stakeholders to be involved and consulted throughout the sourcing process
Surface internal business preferences and sensitivities early in sourcing process; develop plans to integrate and/or resolve conflicting points of view
Scorecard incumbent and other potential suppliers, screening for past performance, strategic direction, financial strength, market position, core capabilities, capacity, and other criteria
Develop quotation strategy and supporting Request for Quotation (RFQ) documents to be distributed to suppliers
Compare supplier RFQ responses (“bid tab analysis”); structure analyses to help stakeholders evaluate strengths and weaknesses of suppliers and their proposals
Lead development of negotiation strategy; conduct advanced total cost modeling and sensitivity/scenario analysis to help stakeholders understand trade-offs and business benefits of various negotiation strategies/outcomes
Make award notification(s); continue to lead strategic sourcing project through contracting, confirming that negotiated outcomes are properly reflected in final contract language.
Conduct/participate in project performance review; identify best practices, opportunities for improvement, and lessons learned
Strong understanding of financial indicators and ability to perform sound economic analysis (e.g., ROI, cash flow analysis, lease vs. buy, micro economics)
Plan and schedule work activities, within prescribed parameters
Liaise with GSC peers to ensure application of best practices and compliance with internal and external standards.
Work with appropriate GSC, internal partners (legal, tax, etc.) and business partner resources to provide the necessary contractual and arrangements to deliver required services and monitor supplier performance
Complete Lean training and promote innovation and continual process improvement throughout GSC

Ability to negotiate and execute various contract types including: Service Agreements, Consulting Agreements, Purchase Equipment and Materials, etc.
Understanding of contract legal terms and conditions and various compensation models
Safety awareness with high level of personal passion for engaging people and making safety first
Ability to expand role and take on more responsibility over time for professional development
Ability to build rapport with GSC Management
Knowledge of E&P operations including offshore and gas plant environments
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Knowledge and application of contracting methodologies, risk analysis and principles of contract law.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
EXPERIENCE:
5-7 years professional level work experience in Supply Chain is required, preferably within Oil & Gas industry
E&P background with project experience in strategic sourcing and demonstrated presentation skills, change management and attention to detail are essential for success in this role. The Specialist will support specific projects/initiatives aimed at improving the efficiency of GSC and actively cultivate strong relationships with contractors and suppliers.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
Bachelor's degree is required, with preference for Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Supply Chain Management or Engineering.
Advanced degree preferred.
Professionally qualified, or working toward certification or membership (e.g., CIPS, RICS, Green Belt) preferred
