The Company:
Our client, a diverse Canadian Energy Company, plans new developments estimated at $12+ Billion over the next 5 years.

This position is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only. Residents of Newfoundland & Labrador will be given first consideration for this position.

The Role:
In this position you would be responsible for the overall accountability for the materials management functions in support of transmission line construction.

• Material Controllers are accountable to the project for the safe and efficient control and distribution of Company procured materials
• Maintain accurate and up to date material status reporting of material under care and control.
• Coordinate with construction planning and establishing material availability reporting.

• Perform detailed analysis of material requirements to support complex construction schedules and activities across numerous work fronts
• Develop concise material status summaries across a host of engineered items
• Identify areas of critical material shortages that do not support construction schedules
• Review supplier documentation for accuracy against engineered drawings, purchase orders or contracts, and deliverable materials from a material control perspective
• Assist with the setup and maintenance of material management system(s) used to control project materials activities
• Assist in the management and re-order process of missing and surplus field material, dealing with the construction contractors and home office material control and procurement
• Ensure accuracy of Contractor material requests for construction in relation to engineering design. Report on discrepancies
• Assist with materials related construction site query's
• Manage the reporting and resolution of the Over Short and Damaged process ensuring full material availability
• Accountable for the accuracy of receipt, storage, issue, return and management of Project procured material
• Responsible for the timely reporting of material receipts/issues and keeping the materials management system up to date with activities affecting inventory
• Provide guidance to construction on structure build capabilities based on current and upcoming materials availability
• Interface with Project Procurement, Expediting, Logistics and Construction to support supply chain activities
• Be capable to execute the following functions and provide direction to staff in similar functions
o Material receipt verification in accordance with purchase orders and contracts
o Over / short and damage reporting and resolution
o Coordinate physical inventory counting and regular verification of on hand quantities and condition
o Coordination of outgoing material and material returned from contractor(s)

• Office located in St. John's, NL
• Some travel to work sites in Argentia, NL and Happy Valley/Goose Bay, NL
• Frequent interface with site material control, expediting, logistics and construction

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Minimum Bachelor's degree with 5 to 7 years of material and logistics experience, or equivalent work experience
• Preference to candidates with prior project management training and experience
• Experience in a large scale, mega project Material Control role
• Detail orientated, analytical thinker
• Competent / expert in material management and logistics functions
• Highly skilled in data analysis tools and techniques and use of MS Excel / MS Access and other database applications
• Excels in use of computerized materials / inventory management systems
• Competent with project schedules with multiple work fronts and locations
• Familiar with Document Control systems and their application
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and report preparation
• Able to prioritize and work in a fast paced environment
