The Company:
Our client is a leader within the Automation and Control Systems field with operations in 100 countries worldwide. They specialise in providing integrated solutions the transmission and distribution industry

The Role:
Reporting to the Solution Group manager, the role requires a dedicated consultant who is capable of working independantly as well as operating as part of a multi disciplined team on various consultancy projects both in the UK and overseas.

Key duties will include:

• Providing advice on the selection of materials
• Providing advice on mechanical, thermal and metallurgical deterioration mechanisms
• Providing advice on welding and forming techniques
• Providing advice on NDE techniques and applicability
• Conduct failure investigations
• Provide deterioration management advice to integrity management programmes
• Assess changes in parameters on materials performance
• Prepare detailed reports including periodic reviews
• Use your experience for Risk Based Inspection studies
• Work as part of a team on Asset life studies

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Full driving license and willingness for UK and international travel essential
• Ability to work at all levels within an organization
• A minimum of 2 to 5 years experience of providing materials engineering technical support to operating plant, ideally in chemical, petrochemical, oil or gas industries
• Knowledge of process equipment
• Appreciation of process operations and the impact on equipment deterioration
• Experience of plant repair methods by welding and application of coatings for corrosion protection.
• Awareness of Asset Management Principles for process equipment and Regulatory requirements.
• Experience of Materials Selection for chemical process equipment
• Experience of forensic failure investigation
• Knowledge of root cause analysis
• Comfortable with working in unfamiliar environments, such as where English is the second language or cultural issues dominate.
