The Company:
Is a leading Automotive manufacturer with a reputation for outstanding quality the world over. With demand increasing and an upturn in production, there is a need to bring further skills into the business to deliver on current and future projects.

The Role:
To develop relevant material concepts to support current and next generation interiors and implement interior materials in the areas of polymers, adhesives, technical finishes, wood & leather. Responsible for the specification, test and validation plan to achieve the cost, weight, timing and quality targets for each project.

1. Lead Materials Development ; Support Design Processes. Area of responsibility: polymer mouldings, coatings and adhesives.
To research and develop relevant new materials technologies for direct application in interiors and to develop business cases for materials developments where required. Advanced awareness of design and development techniques and technology in area of responsibility. Advanced ability to capture and specify the design requirements in area of responsibility. Support the Engineering test & validation planning and sign off for systems and components in area of responsibility. Support Engineering release and change management process.

2. Delivery of projects - To support material choices and optimize associated processes in the manufacture of wood and leather trimmed parts for all projects and coordinate manufacturing trials.
Responsible for planning and managing project related activities on a weekly basis. Reporting of project status for area of responsibility in functional area. Intermediate understanding of cross functional working with other areas of the business. Active participation working with suppliers for progressing project deliverables. Basic financial awareness of their role in the organisation.
Knowledge of cost of parts and systems with an understanding of value engineering.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Ability to communicate at various levels across the company in different forums. Design and development skills in area of responsibility. Ability to influence colleagues within your area of responsibility. Understanding of financial limits within area of responsibility. Skills required by local area; computer skills, problem solving techniques, material science. CAx experience beneficial; CAD, Mouldflow, CAE…
German language beneficial

Engineering Degree or equivalent in Material Science or Mechanical Engineering. Automotive interior trim experience with good understanding of material applications. Associate membership of a relevant professional intuition preferable.
