The Company:
Our client designs, manufactures and repairs electro-mechanical radiation monitoring equipment and instrumentation & control products for the defence and civil power markets.

The Role:
Two experienced Materials Planner/Buyers are now required to provide additional procurement capability within the Manufacturing Team.

The job role will include:

• Raise Manufacturing Orders for items to meet Customer’s order requirements. Plan and schedule the material requirements for those Manufacturing orders, and process Purchase Requisitions and Orders as required through a computerised system in accordance with the signature protocol, determining call-in dates to meet contractual and build requirements and ensuring agreed prices are iaw estimates/budgeted costs
• Obtain quotations for goods and services from approved suppliers
• Ensure timely procurement of materials to meet planned kitting dates and that materials are progressed from receipt through to completed kits
• Produce works order costs estimates and detailed costing analyses, obtaining initial quotations for bid proposals
• Provide real-time information to the Manufacturing Manager regarding delivery and kitting dates, highlighting any potential risks to the output schedule and pro-actively recommending any work-around opportunities
• Assess vendor capabilities to ensure Business requirements are met
• Build relationships with key suppliers and monitor supplier prices and lead times to ensure “best value” is achieved. Work with others on ways to improve supplier performance
• Housekeeping of Purchase and Works Orders to ensure they are completed and closed down correctly and all associated costs are apportioned and stock transactions issued prior to completion
• Ensure that non-conforming materials are returned to suppliers, where necessary, and than Non-conformance actions are completed and recorded, and records updated, iaw the Business Management System
• Liaise with Engineering, QA, Commercial and other Departments as required/necessary

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Experience in a similar role within the Electronics industry or related purchasing environment
• Ability to interpret and understand information contained within Electrical and Mechanical manufacturing documentation such as drawings, bills of materials and procurement specifications
• Competent user of computerised MRP (Material Requirement Planning) systems. Must be computer literate and confident with Word and Excel
• A team player able to work alone from time to time on previously agreed tasks with minimal supervision
• Willing to work extended hours as required and to travel within the UK to visit supplier premises periodically
