The Company:
Subsidiary of major energy company, operating offshore gas fields and onshore gas processing terminals.

The Role:
Reporting to the Multi-discipline Maintenance Engineer, the job holder is one of a team of mechanical technicians working within the offshore operations maintenance team

The function of the maintenance team is to ensure safe operation of the asset whilst maintaining the necessary availability and reliability to meet challenging production targets.

Working on a 2 weeks on 2 weeks off rotation the role involves the safe execution of planned and defect maintenance on a wide range of mechanical equipment and safety systems associated with an offshore gas production platform. These include, but are not limited to turbo machinery, pumps, valves, compressors, HVAC, hydraulics and pneumatics, heat exchangers, lifesaving appliances, pressure systems and vessels. This will involve the associated job preparation, fault diagnosis and maintaining maintenance records in a computerised maintenance management system (SAP).

The job holder will undertake hands-on maintenance work but may need to supervise other staff and vendor/contractor personnel on-site from time to time. Their technical expertise will enable them to take the lead in certain aspects of mechanical maintenance and investigate issues, preparing and presenting technical reports and handovers as required.

The job holder may also be trained to be competent in a range of activities ancillary to their core discipline such as emergency response, crane operations, lifting and slinging to provide a range of complementary skills within the team in support of operational and maintenance activities.

Person specification:
The job holder must support and contribute to the positive safety culture within the operation seeking continual improvement in safety and environmental performance. They will demonstrate a basic knowledge of HSE issues and must ensure compliance with all company procedures.

The successful candidate will have had formal industry training or apprenticeship with demonstrable experience within an offshore or similar hazardous petrochemical environment.

Minimum qualification level required is HNC or equivalent in a relevant Engineering discipline.

The ability to work on complex equipment utilising reference materials and maintaining the appropriate standards is crucial. These will include process drawings and piping specs, schematics, maintenance manuals and the company Intranet system.

The job holder will work under limited supervision that is directional rather than detailed so needs to be able to take a lead role in resolving technical issues and seeking support both from within the company and external sources.

The role requires a person who is self motivated, flexible and an effective team worker

A working experience of Microsoft office and other IT systems is required

Experience on turbo machinery is highly desirable to maintain critical rotating equipment including RB211 driven compression sets and TB5000 driven generation sets.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Minimum qualification level required is HNC or equivalent in a relevant Engineering discipline.
