The Company:
Our client, a major owner/operating company, requires expertise for their ongoing oil sands mega-projects in Alberta.

This position is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only.

The Role:
The Mechanical Construction Superintendent will have the responsibility:

• Champion Mechanical Completion Safety
• Heavy lifting and rigging – required for CMT approval under 90% - Rigging set up and inspections
• Weld Map procedures and testing criteria’s for NDE –ASME and API specifications
• API –ASME installation tolerance / ITP / QA requirements for rotating equipment, pipe strain and gap
• Structural welding penetrations for all common welds
• Interface with the integrated PT and site engineering team. Interface for technical oversight and support between quality, construction, site and home office engineering teams
• Ensure Construction contractor has systems in place to administer their Engineering staff (if applicable).
• Continue to utilize and improve efficient/timely process for handling technical queries, design questions, spec deviation requests and interpretation of specs, design codes and deliverables (e.g. RFIs and SDRs). Monitor the process to ensure effective, timely performance and decision making from both the site team and home office
• Establish a process for handling design change notices at site and provide clear guidance as to when design change notices can be handled at site vs. home office engineering (DCNs and CDCNs). Ensure review of DCNs with the Project Engineers before implementation to ensure all contractual issues have been addressed.
• Actively monitor and manage any changes to engineering deliverables from home office and facilitate methods to minimize impact to site construction.
• Develops plans for transitions from Construction (Area Based) to Mechanical Completion (System Base) to System Completion
• Manages transition of Area based Construction Superintendents to that necessary for mechanical completion
• Interfaces with the Site Quality Advisor & Site Commissioning Lead for system completions database
• management with regard to mechanical completion and administers mechanical completion record management
• Have lead responsibility for commissioning planning, preparations, verification, and documentation
• Oversee the execution of mechanical completion of the structure and facilities
• Manage and facilitate contractor’s Permit-To-Work system ensuring implementation at the outset of the project
• Participates in the Construction Criticality Workshop to establish Quality Inspection & Testing Plan and levels of MC inspection for Project team

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
The Mechanical Construction Superintendent will have previous experience:

• 5+ years of closely related professional experience, with some experience working at actual fabrication / construction site
