The Company:
Our client is a nuclear specialist, covering both civilian and defence sectors, across the complete lifecycle from New Build, through Operations and Maintenance, to final decommissioning and waste disposal. As a result of continued growth they are looking to recruit a Mechanical Designer to be based at their offices in Risley

The Role:
The role of mechanical designer will be split into a number of important elements

The mechanical designer will be able to provide fit for purpose and cost effective design / documentation outputs to timescales and budgets, ensuring minimum rework following checking

With guidance the mechanical designer can provide material and hardware selection to suit the design criteria for the nuclear design

The mechanical designer will understand the methodology for nuclear engineering design, i.e. the need for modularisation, surface finish, and specialist maintenance requirements e

Undertaking self checking of their detail drawings prior to issuing them for formal checking will be an important element of work for the mechanical designer

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Ideally the successful candidate will have recent experience of producing mechanical design outputs using AutoCAD and preferably in the nuclear industry although other candidates will also be considered

It would be advantageous if the mechanical designer has working knowledge of MHD's, MSD's, DPD's, MFD's, GA's. S'Assys, Detail Drawings, fabrications, weld symbols, limits and fits and also geometrical tolerancing

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Ideally the mechanical designer will educated to HNC level, although ONC level is also acceptable
