The Company:
Our client is working as part of a new project to design, construct and commission a new mining and processing operation within Western Australia and are currently building a team to support this project.

The Role:
A new opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Designer on a 5-6 month contract based in Perth. The role will report in to the Lead Mechanical Designer and is accountable for undertaking the mechanical drafting and design effort for the delivery of the mechanical packages

Main Responsibilities include but will not be limited to: 
Ensure safety is the first priority at all times personally, within the team and for all consultants and contractors
Undertake mechanical design activity and produce deliverables in accordance within agreed scope, battery limits, budget, schedule and specifications
Remain flexible and maintain a "do what is necessary and right for project" approach to tie the project functions together and integrate the project under a unified umbrella to achieve corporate objectives.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Qualification in mechanical or relevant engineering discipline (diploma or trade) from a recognised institution
Demonstrable focus on management of safety
Minimum 5 years experience in mechanical design in a consulting environment preferably in a mining or heavy industry
Strong knowledge and experience in AutoCad
Delivery schedule management
Strong knowledge of Australian codes and standards
Understanding of project controls, design documentation, procurement processes and delivery
