The Company:
Our Client, a major oil and gas operator, seeks a Mechanical Engineer to join their team.

The Role:
• Be responsible for the mechanical & piping design of the Project topside.
• Provide strong leadership and technical direction during Phases 3 and 4 (FEED and EPCI) by assuming the oversight role for ME discipline
• Provide costs estimates, schedule reviews as required by the project.
• Manage discipline intra-project interfaces
• Foster an environment of high performance, top quartile capital stewardship, exemplary decision quality, strong partnership behaviors and delivery of the business expectations

Technical Scope:
• Experience in Off-shore capital project design, procurement, fabrication, installation, hookup & commissioning. Strong mechanical engineering background (e.g. piping systems, pressure vessels, etc.). Proficient in the use, interpretation and application of industry codes including:
o ANSI/ASME B31.3 Process Piping, B31.8 Gas Transmission and Distribution Systems
o ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII
o API 616 (Gas Turbines), 617 (Compressors) , 610 (Pumps)
Typically responsible for developing the following activities:
• Establish project standards, procedures and/or practices
• Designs, installs or modifies equipment and facilities such as compressor facilities
• Leads piping design and flexibility analysis
• May serve as a design/construct representative

Cross-functional responsibility/experience may include:
• Develop the Mechanical/Piping section of the Design Basis for Facilities.
• Input to Engineering studies such as process and utilities optimization.
• Input to plans for commissioning of process systems working in coordination with operation personnel.
• Good multi-discipline working knowledge of offshore oil and gas design practices.

Safety-in-Design & Reliability scope:
• Must possess a good understanding of safe design, fabrication and installation practices and be able to champion inherent safe designs.
• Experienced with critical analysis of basic and detailed engineering design, including piping and equipment layout, operability and constructability review.
• HAZID / HAZOP experience.
• Ability to ensure that an inherent safe design is obtained in all phases of project execution.

Contractor Management:
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills working cooperatively with design contractors, consultants, vendors and fabricators.
• Proven ability to apply effective progress monitoring, scheduling and cost control.
• Ability to manage discipline intra-project interfaces as well as the interfaces with other project and functional teams as required to facilitate electrical integration into final system.

Overall project execution duties may include:
• Monitoring contract compliance, design approval, Management of Change acceptance, commissioning engineer as part of company contactor joint team, cost and schedule management, engineering change management.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• BS degree in Mechanical
• Multi-discipline working knowledge of offshore oil and gas design practices.
• Ability to work in multi-discipline teams, including contractors, through conceptual, FEED, detailed design and construction.
• Ability to monitor FEED contractor's work to ensure compliance with project requirements.
