The Company:
Our client, a major oil and gas company, seeks a Mechanical Engineer to join their team.

The Role:
• Displays visible commitment to promoting an incident and injury free culture on the project. Incorporates all HSE requirements into final project deliverables for execution and post-project operations.
• Provides mechanical design and construction support to the 1) Topsides Construction Site Team from fabrication through mechanical completion and 2) Integration, Hookup and Commissioning Team from integration through commissioning/startup. These teams are responsible for all aspects of facilities fabrication, integration, hookup and commissioning.
• Ensures fabricator has vendor preservation documentation and is maintaining equipment in accordance with vendor recommendations.
• Conducts and/or participates in constructability reviews.
• Works with Topsides Engineering Team to ensure timely delivery of key engineering documents, equipment and material to the fabricator.
• Assist in management of topsides and hull mechanical interfaces.
• Responsible for working with inspection teams on handover of equipment packages and ensuring documentation for acceptance is provided.
• Oversees the contractor’s mechanical scope of work at the fabrication site ensuring facilities are constructed in accordance with approved designs and specifications. Works closely with Company inspectors at fabrication site. Monitors construction progress to ensure efficient use of resources and maintenance of project cost and schedule objectives. Develops contingency plans where necessary.
• Responsible for overseeing mechanical completion and commissioning. Responsible for completion of all punch-list, as-builts, final QA/QC documentation, and project closeout activities.
• Champions HES efforts at the construction site and works closely with Safety Specialists. Ensures all aspects of safety are properly managed by the contractor.
• BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• A minimum of 10 years of work experience in the offshore oil and gas industry
• Experienced in design, construction and commissioning of mechanical systems for offshore oil and gas facilities, including fixed mechanical equipment, piping systems, generators, motors, compressors, pumps, chemical injection systems, utilities, etc. • Offshore design and construction experience for floating production units and/or ships • Familiar with Gulf of Mexico regulatory codes and standards related to offshore floating production units – USCG, ABS, MMS • A minimum of 5 years of work experience in engineering and fabrication support at a major fabrication/ship yard • Fluent with Industry Codes and Standards, US GOM standards and Recommended Practices (e.g., API, ANSI, ASME, ISO standards, API RP 14C, API RP 14E, etc.). • Previous Chevron experience
